Telecom Service Installer II
Telecom Service Installers are responsible for connecting fiber optic service using the supplied hardware, electronic devices, and materials, from the aerial or underground telecom utility location to the inside of the home or business. In addition, installers will troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade existing fiber optic services. Telecom Service installers will be dispatched to regularly scheduled installation appointments and will interact and communicate with home and business residents and owners according to established standards and guidelines and will provide written and electronic field assessments, meeting or exceeding Sertex standards. Functions in a mid-level position with a degree of efficiency, provide written and electronic reports and field assessments, meeting or exceeding Sertex standards. This is a regular, full-time, non-exempt position. Normal shifts include working 8 or more hours and must be available to work overtime including weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Primary Responsibilities
- Basic knowledge of installation procedures including but not limited to VoIP, POTS, cable, and data networks in residential and commercial applications.
Core Responsibilities
- Pre-wires single dwelling units and multiple dwelling units (MDUs) to provide ready hook-up capabilities.
- Completes associated paperwork with each work order in a timely manner to ensure all details of the work are recorded.
- Performs installation of new service and performs service calls.
- Reviews all requested services with the customer to ensure understanding and agreement.
- Provides the customer with materials to educate the customer on the use of the equipment and company guidelines.
- Cleans, maintains, and stocks vehicle and equipment to be prepared to perform required duties.
- Properly operates and maintains installation tools and equipment.
- Ability to use basic cable installation tools and hand tools and perform jobs from high places (on poles and roofs,) including climbing poles with proper equipment (safety belt, strap, climbers,) ladders, and bucket trucks (18 to 20 feet,) as determined by the system’s requirements.
- Manipulates connectors, fasteners, wire and use hand tools.
- Communicates with customers in a clear and straight forward manner.
- Proven ability to work independently and to prioritize and organize effectively.
- Able to apply common sense, theory, and experience to decision-making; to identify key issues or use inductive reasoning in complex situations and to communicate courteously and pro-actively; able to recommend products or service; able to promote customer focus and develop partnerships with customers.
- Able to use good judgment when responding and respond to objections successfully.
Physical Demands
The employee is occasionally going to sit; the employee is regularly required to speak, hear, stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms including above head; turn, pivot, or bend wrists, elbows, shoulders, climb, and balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The employee is regularly lifting up to 75 pounds, individually or as a team.
Work Environment
The employee is frequently operating a commercial motor vehicle; working in high, precarious places; the employee is regularly working in wet or humid conditions; in extreme hot or cold weather conditions; in confined spaces such as crawl spaces or attics; regularly exposed to moderate and excessive noise levels, dogs or other animals; occasionally working near fumes or airborne particles; and risk of electrical shock.
Qualifications
Must be 18 years or older
1+ years of proven experience
High School Diploma or equivalent
Valid Driver’s License with (3) or more proven years of safe driving experience
