Description:
TEKsystems is partnering with a local client in the search for an Telecom Technician. The Telecom Technician is responsible for assisting with the on-site installation of voice, data, fiber optic cable systems, security, CCTV and paging. A person in this role must possess the ability to take and follow direction and have the ability and desire to learn quickly and ask questions.
Skills:
Cabling, Punchdown, data closets, termination testing, test equipment
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
• Identify and prepare pathways and supports for new cabling system installation
• Pull copper, coaxial and fiber optic cable in backbone, horizontal and riser environments
• Terminate voice and data jacks
• Terminate data cables on patch panels
• Terminate and/or cross-connect voice cables on 66 or 110 blocks
• Assist with build out of data closets – install ladder rack, cable trays, data racks and rack-mount equipment
• Learn how to read blue prints and assist with identifying cabling pathways
• Comply with all building codes and safety standards
• Communicate effectively with Technicians, Foreman, Field Supervisors and other coworkers about project status
• Assist with testing copper cable installations and learn to use testing equipment
• Complete timesheets, expense reports, mileage reports, and other job-related paperwork in an accurate and timely manner
• Perform other duties that may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this position
