Basic Responsibilities

The telecommunications department is looking for a talented engineer to focus on our outside plan (OSP) Fiber network. Additional areas of technology within the department include: Land Mobile Radio, Microwave, Packet Based Transport, Advanced Metering Infrastructure, Distribution Automation, and Structured Cabling. Candidate will initiate engineering work requiring originality and independent judgment when performing analysis, evaluation, selection, and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Carries out engineering assignments with minimal supervision on standard projects. Works directly with construction and technical crews to ensure projects are supported and complete.

Minimum Qualifications

Telecommunication Engineer II

· Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Electronics or Computer Science

· Three (3) years engineering design experience with demonstrated abilities in five (5) technical areas

OR

· Successful completion of vendor specific Engineering or Installation and Design courses, and associated testing

· Two (2) years as a District Telecommunications Engineer I

· Eight (8) years of telecommunications installation and maintenance experience including four (4) years at a senior level

Telecommunication Engineer III

· Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Electronics or Computer Science

· Six (6) years of communications engineering three of which have successfully performed the duties of Communications Engineer II

OR

· Successful completion of vendor specific Engineering or Installation and Design courses, and associated testing

· Three (3) years as a District Telecommunications Engineer II

· Ten (10) years of telecommunications installation and maintenance experience including four (4) years at a senior level
