The Indiana Convention Center & Lucas Oil Stadium are now hiring for a Telecommunications Technician. The ideal candidate will have experience with maintaining and testing of the telecommunications systems.


POSITION SUMMARY:
This position has the responsibility of maintaining and testing of the telecommunications systems for Lucas Oil Stadium and Indiana Convention Center.


DUTIES:

  • Maintain/repair Stadium and Convention Center data communications systems, cable, phone, fiber optic, CCTV system, and access control systems.
  • Install and dismantle telecommunications hook-ups for trade shows, meeting and sports events to include single and multi-line sets, dates lines, T-1 lines, ISDN and shared Ethernet lines.
  • Extract phone, fiber optic requirements from show documents and coordinate additional information from Event Coordinators, IT / Facility Management Staff and Show Management Staff.
  • Understand color codes, and how to terminate all category 3, 5, 6 6E cable. Familiar with Fiber optics termination and basic familiarity with building software, MDF, and IDF operations.
  • Configuration and documentation of systems as required.
  • Understanding of doors operators, closers, ADA systems.
  • Understanding of Notifier Fire Alarm System
  • Ability to thoroughly document tasks.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Able to assign cable pairs for all permanent tenants and shows. Must be able to clearly communicate in a professional manner with staff and exhibitors. Must have low voltage troubleshooting experience, basic circuit knowledge and able to read voltmeter.


This position willl work a base schedule of Monday – Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm, but will be required to work fluctuating hours including evenings and weekends as needed.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Three years of experience and/or 5 years telecommunications IBEW apprentice program. Applicants can join IBEW Union #481 upon hire.


LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to extract information from electrical and process control diagrams. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.


KNOWLEDGE, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Knowledge of low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of computers, phone, and fiber optics systems.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position requires constant reaching high/low/level and repetitive finger movement and twisting or pressure involving wrists or hands. Frequent standing, walking, lifting a maximum of 50 pounds, climbing ladders, kneeling and repeated bending. Working conditions require work both inside and outside the facility.

Experience:
