The Opportunity:
Under general supervision, the Telecommunications Analyst III position oversees the purchase, installation, and support of physical layer telecommunications systems. Primarily responsible for all technical and operational items related to the university’s telecommunications physical layer infrastructure that includes design, estimating, documentation, troubleshooting, maintenance and installation of Outside Plant Fiber, Duct Bank, Structured Cabling, Emergency notification systems, etc.
Responsibilities:

Provides a high level of physical layer design, installation and troubleshooting for the University’s enterprise Telecommunications systems. Solves complex issues through physical and logical investigation.

Designs, documents, estimates, configures and installs complex physical structured cabling topologies. Ability to complete tasks on OSP fiber/Copper, Duct bank, networking/AV/Access control cabling.

Performs specific project management or works in conjunction with UCF IT Project management office to track project schedules, budgets, risks, resource requirements, customer interactions, etc.

Works within a Telecom Enterprise Management software application (Service Now and Pinnacle) to receive, document, respond and record various trouble tickets and service requests.

Provides a high level of physical layer instruction for the Installation, Maintenance and Repair team members. Will assist other team members with tickets, projects, documentation, and escalation (if required).

Follows Standard Operating Procedures as determined by the specific subgroup within the department. This includes work-order/ ticket flows, documentation, outage communication and customer interactions.

Attends various seminars, training and conferences related to current or emerging technology. Will be given various opportunities to obtain certifications based on specific training.

Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 4+ years of relevant experience. The UCF policy requires completion and passing of a physical exam for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:

4 years of experience in telecommunications industry.

Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Ability to read construction documents.
-
Problem solving skills of issues for all physical layer components and tools.

Ability to communicate effectively within Telecommunications sub units and cross functional groups.

Strong organizational and documentation skills with careful attention to detail.

Ability to handle various power hand tools.
-
Ability to navigate through Microsoft Office applications.
Special Instructions to the Applicants:
The UCF policy requires completion and passing of a physical exam for this position.
This position must be available 24/7 in case of an emergency and may be asked to work during emergency situations including early, late, weekend, holiday hours and/or university closures such as during a hurricane, since UCF IT Telecommunications is considered a “mission essential” component of UCF’s operational capability. Additionally, a person in this position may be asked to work a flexible schedule that includes non-traditional hours to perform essential job functions that cannot be performed during “normal” business hours.
