Telecommunications Data Specialist

OGC is a boutique research and consulting agency specializing in data-driven strategy, market research and analytics, and Customer Experience (CX) program design and optimization. We work with some of the world’s largest organizations across a variety of industries, including Telecommunications, Financial Services, Specialty Retail, Hospitality and Software, helping them to gain a deep understanding of their customers, develop actionable insights, and improve business processes.

We are seeking a full-time Telecommunications Data Specialist to join our team and our Telecommunications practice. This role provides a great opportunity for a curious, self-starter to become part of a high-performing team, and implement a hands-on approach to data exploration, manipulation, and reporting.

About the role

In this role you will work closely with one of our key clients, a Fortune 500 Telecommunications company. You will be responsible for supporting data query requests from different business unit leaders within the organization. This includes exploring what data is available (and where and how it is stored), writing SQL database queries, exporting and editing data to meet the business unit needs. This is a full time, remote position.

Responsibilities include

• Communicating with different business stakeholders to collect requirements

• Communication with different technical leads and gathering existing data

• Handling multiple data environments

• Maintaining and developing queries and procedures to ensure the integrity and performance of projects

• Pulling, combining, and cleaning data from multiple sources

• Creating ad-hoc reports utilizing various data sources

• Maintaining current knowledge of relevant technologies

• Manipulating and curating different data formats and structures

• Crafting and executing SQL queries based on business requirements

• BA/BS from a top university with outstanding grades, preferably in Computer or Information Science, Statistics, Math, or a related field. MA/MSc –An advantage

• 2 years of experience writing complex SQL scripts (stored procedures, functions, views, etc.)

• Must have demonstrated experience working with Teradata SQL

• Experience with the following platforms – An advantage:

  • Trino SQL platform
  • AWS S3 Cloud Storage platform
  • MinIO/Kubernetes
  • SQL Server, MySQL, Postgres, and MongoDB

• Strong attention to detail

• Flexibility working with different data formats

• Exceptional documentation skills and practices

• Experience in implementing operational automation scripts – An advantage

• Tableau or any BI tools (Power BI, Qlik, etc.)- An advantage

• Exposure to different types of data e.g market research, telecommunications – An advantage

• CX Experience – An Advantage
