Day-to-Day Responsibilities/Workload:
The resource is responsible for analyzing, configuring, maintaining and restoring of telecommunication transport infrastructure and supporting components. The hardware portfolio includes (but is not limited to) SONET & DWDM lightwave equipment,3/1/0 DACS, RF/Digital Microwave, T1 Multiplexers, BITS synchronization and other transport infrastructure. The resource performs a wide variety of fault evaluation, maintenance, configuration, performance and security (FCAPS) and training tasks to ensure the network performance meets company and client service levels. The resource also provides direction, information, and recommendations regarding configurations and installations for SCE engineers and field technicians. The resource has in depth knowledge of topologies in DWDM, SONET, RF Microwave, and familiarity with. The resource prepares and maintains up to date documentation for configuration, change and patch control of deployed solutions. The specialist troubleshoots and assists in locating root causes of telecom incidents. The resource participates in on-call duties.
Required Skills/Attributes:
Telecommunications troubleshooting
5 years experience supporting large enterprise or provider telecommunications networks
Experience with lightwave and RF microwave technologies
Desired Skills/Attributes:
Strong communications skills
Experience with MS Office
