Responsibilities:
Partnering with the support team, the telecommunications engineer is heavily involved with identifying, prioritizing, and resolving critical telco network related issues that impact business operations. In addition, the engineer proactively seeks to communicate solutions to telecom technology related issues and preferred emerging technologies that can be used to improve the overall health of the company network. The engineer will be responsible for providing a systematic, disciplined, quantifiable approach to the design, development, operation, and integration of the variety of network and telecom systems from different vendors.
- Ensure system improvement, efficiency, and standardization including deployment and maintenance of NYBC and E-NYBC telecom platform. Deploy and support company phone systems, LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including, routers, hubs, switches and other hardware.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Design and deploy engineering projects for VoIP initiatives.
- Design and support telecommunications infrastructure and its associated software, including VoIP call management systems, voice mail, and video conferencing systems.
- Make technology recommendations that will increase cost effectiveness and infrastructure flexibility.
- Able to identify, prioritize, and solve complex network-related problems
- Monitor and identify capacity and performance issues for network and telecom traffic to ensure continued, uninterrupted operation of network and telecom systems.
- Identify and communicate problems and opportunities for improvement in the infrastructure and technology.
- Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration and network mapping.
- Evaluates network products, services, protocols, standards and platforms to determine whether their applicability aligns with businesses needs
- Participate in managing all network security solutions – including firewalls, Intrusion Prevention Systems, SSL VPN, Web Proxy and other Security Appliances.
- Set and adhere to project deadlines and proactively manage communications with peers and management.
- Works with technical teams to ensure that hardware and software infrastructure is maintained current and proactively develops a roadmap for future upgrades and enhancements.
- Be comfortable conducting meetings and creating and presenting professional grade deliverables such as technical architecture documents, technical drawings, and presentations.
- Conduct project reviews, feasibility, cost benefit analysis, prioritization, initiation, execution for all project related work related to assigned programs and projects
- Provide technical expertise and consultation to NYBC internal teams
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience in related field or a HS diploma plus eight (8+) years of experience may be substituted in lieu of the degree requirement.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of design, implementation and support experience with Cisco, Ironport, and traditional PBX devices in a converged, enterprise class data network environment
Travel: Position requires travel to all NYBC sites and new facilities in Rye, New York
Skills and Abilities: Experience researching, analyzing, and evaluating network solutions. Knowledge of traffic analysis and performance and capacity tools experience is required. Experience with Cisco Call Manager, Unity and Contact Center Suite. Must be highly proficient in MS Visio to maintain and develop further networking documentation for reference by the team.Experience researching, analyzing, and evaluating network solutions.
