Position Details

Position Title: Telecommunications Engineer Level 5

Employment Status: Permanent

Salary Range: $120,000 – $159,000 annually

Reports To: Project Lead

Positions Supervises: Telecommunications Engineers.

Location: Washington D.C. Metropolitan area

  • Position Summary
  • A Level 5 Telecommunications Engineer is responsible for tasks relating to voice and data telecommunications.
  • Influences development of solutions that impact strategic project/program goals and business results.
  • Recommends and develops new technical solutions, products, and/or standards in support of function’s strategy and operations.
  • Leads and manages works of other technical staff that has significant impact on project results/outputs.
  • Resolves highly complex problems using significant application of technical knowledge, conceptualizing, reasoning, and interpretation.
  • Develops solutions that are highly innovative and achieved through research and integration of best practices.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert within technical domain area.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if applicable.
  • Duties Statement
  • Performs assessments and proposes improvements on current communication technologies.
  • Performs assessments on impact of new proposed telecommunication technologies on current telecommunication systems.
  • Reviews proposals for compliance with applicable policy and regulations.
  • Provides recommendations, engineering methods and procedures to improve effectiveness and efficiency of telecommunication systems.
  • Assists with Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) and Electro-Magnetic Interference (EMI) problem resolution.
  • Applies principles of math, physics, electronics theory, electrical network theory, and control systems to the design, manufacturing, and testing of devices that are designed to operate in the radio frequency spectrum.
  • Applies knowledge of communications theory to RF engineering problems.
  • Selection Criteria

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Physics, Engineering or Telecommunications and 12-15 years of prior relevant experience or master’s with 10-13 years of prior relevant experience.
  • May possess a Doctorate in technical domain
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Network communication technology knowledge (MATLAB, Python)
  • Experience in satellite communications, line-of-sight microwave.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $120,000.00 – $159,000.00 per year
