Local Utility Contractor seeking a hands-on, self starter to fulfill the role of Area Manager for our East Central Wisconsin Division.
REQUIRED ABILITIES
- Able and willing to work hands-on alongside crew to lead and demonstrate proper techniques for potholing, directional drilling, running cable, etc.
- Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks so that work is completed accurately and on schedule
- Ability to professionally work with all levels of management, employees, customers, and the public.
- Ability to work in all kinds of outdoor environments (rain, heat, cold, mud, etc.)
- Ability to work in confined spaces if necessary
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Plan the most efficient and effective order of each job assigned to the area (day-to-day and week-to-week)
Timely and accurate communication to:
- Crew – Decisions/developments/issues on jobs that they are responsible for
- Shop – Equipment and/or vehicle problems in assigned area
- Human Resources for any employee related issues, absences, etc.
- Construction Coordinators – regarding job progress, equipment needed, customer requests, etc.
- Safety Manager – safety questions/concerns/incidents
Ensure that assigned Foremen are:
- Following company and OSHA policies and procedures
- Promoting teamwork among crew members
- Ensuring development of crew members through on-going training
- Completing required paperwork in a timely manner
- Presenting company in a positive/professional manner
Additional duties:
- Maintain cost effective production levels on the crews in assigned area
- Keep an accurate inventory of assigned materials
- Travel to job sites in assigned area
- Obtain prints for bid packages and send to corporate office in a timely manner
- Maintain a positive relationship with current customers as well as seek potential new customers.
Qualifications:
- Five or more years of new-build fiber construction experience; two or more years of supervising multiple crews.
- Able to operate a variety of heavy equipment to include Vermeer and Ditch Witch drills as well as corresponding locators
- Demonstrated attention to quality construction practices and ensuring timely closeout and delivery of the project schedule
- Able to perform manual labor functions, walk on uneven ground, work in tight spaces, and work outdoors in all weather conditions. Hold a valid driver’s license and an insurance acceptable driving record
- Must pass a customer-driven background check

Experience:
- Horizontal drilling: 3 years (Preferred)
- OSP telecommunications construction: 5 years (Preferred)
- Supervising: 5 years (Preferred)
License/Certification:

- CDL A (Preferred)
