TC is currently seeking qualified candidates for a the position of Laborer to work in the Sherwood Park, Alberta area.

The Labourer position requires the ability to work within a team safely and efficiently to install shallow communication utilities. The Labourer will report to the Foreman or Lead-Hand on-site. This position may be seasonal depending on annual work load. The candidate MUST possess a valid Class-5 driver’s license or greater. Experience in communication civil construction will be an advantage.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Installing wire/cable, precast concrete bases, laying underground cable, putting together conduit, sanding cable with shovel, moving material, swamping for excavators, driving company vehicles, and clean up jobsite daily
  • Ability to lift 50lbs and be physically fit for labour duties on a construction site
  • Operate jumping jacks, plate tampers, and other handheld or portable equipment
  • Must be able to perform physically demanding duties while working safely at all times
  • Learn to read and understand construction drawings for specific tasks given
  • Must be able to effectively communicate and carry out tasks as provided done correctly and within provided timeline
  • Possibly operate skid-steer and other motorized construction equipment on-site
  • Go through TC orientation, carrying out all tasks per training and guidelines provided
  • Complete daily time sheets, force-account records, pre-trip vehicle inspections and other paperwork as assigned
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualification Requirements

  • Must have a valid Class-5 driver’s license. (Q-endorsement or Class-1 is a benefit)
  • Must be able to pass security screening
  • Must be physically fit
  • Flexible in working varying hours and days
  • Strong team member with a positive attitude
