Position Overview

The Aerial Lineman (crew lead) performs tasks involving aerial and ground telecom work. This position leads aerial construction for a crew of 2-3 groundmen/splicers.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform aerial tasks, such as new cable installs, pole transfers, strand building, cable hanging, and lashing
  • Climb utility poles and/or use aerial lift truck to place cables on poles per system design
  • Managing paperwork & creating accurate redlines of construction
  • Lead all aerial construction for crew including goal tracking and guidance of crew members
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned

Requirements

  • 1+ yrs Aerial fiber construction experience required, including the wire/cable placement
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings/plans and specifications
  • Understand separation and clearance regulations
  • Valid driver’s license required; Class A preferred
  • Must have knowledge in fiber optic construction prints & designs
  • Must have working knowledge & experience with all types of aerial construction equipment, including bucket truck, fiber trailer, aerial hardware & framing knowledge, etc.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with coworkers, customers, general public, and leadership
  • Experience in climbing and utilizing safety equipment, including harness, gloves, blankets, etc.
  • Preferred experience in ADSS/Power Safety Space fiber construction
  • Pay commensurate with experience
  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work aloft, climb numerous telephone poles daily
  • Must be physically able to deal with the following requirements: pulling fiber, pulling lasher when working in the Power Zone, being able to load and unload our trucks and trailers
  • Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable and sustained use of your arms, legs, and moving your entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, sitting standing, and handling of materials up to 100 lbs.
  • Ability to wear proper safety apparel, which includes: hard hats (when exiting truck on any worksite) where required, DOT reflective work vest, and proper footwear (boots)
  • Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment, work in inclement weather, stand, and drive for extended periods of time
  • Ability to utilize hand tools, identify wire size/color and accurately utilize measuring devices
  • Ability to complete tasks with small components and wires

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $30.00 – $35.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 10 hour shift
  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Overtime

Supplemental pay types:

  • Bonus pay

  • Sarasota, FL: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
