The person hired into this position may request to work remotely up to 100% of their work time. Occasional in-office work at our downtown Madison location (201 E. Washington Ave.) will be required. High speed internet access is required to meet the needs of remote work.

Position Summary
In this role, you will serve as the definitive technical expert in DWD for the integration and connectivity of very complex telecommunication systems and communication cabling facilities that involve multiple hardware and software platforms, multiple operating systems and advanced, emerging technologies such as Interactive Voice Response (IVR), video conferencing, network convergence, remote access, voice over IP, and integrated unified messaging. You will lead the development and support of telecommunication systems, tools, architectures, policies, and standards.
Clients include statewide end users throughout the Department and/or other agencies, government, and private sector contacts. This position will also work in collaboration with the Bureau of Information Technology and reports to the General Services Bureau Director in the Division of Operations.

Salary Information
Starting salary is between $85,000 and $95,000 per year depending on qualifications and experience, plus excellent benefits.
The classification title for this position is IS Network Services Consultant Administrator (schedule 07, range 32). A 12-month probationary period will be required for permanent positions. This position is not represented in a collective bargaining unit.
Pay will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan in effect at the time of appointment. Starting pay may vary for current state employees.

Occasional weekend and/or night hours may be required during upgrades or other time-sensitive projects.

Qualifications
Qualifications marked with an asterisk (*) below will be evaluated in the first step of the selection process. Additional qualifications may be evaluated in subsequent steps.
You need to have the following experience:
- planning, implementing, and maintaining integrated architectures for telecommunication facility support;
- providing advanced technical expertise regarding the optimal usage of *telecommunications systems and communication cabling;
- troubleshooting issues related to data transmission technology including Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP);
- troubleshooting issues related to call center technologies (e.g. Automated Call Distribution or similar).
- Communicating with others to achieve business objectives.
Any of the following experience would be nice to have:
- leading IT planning activities (e.g. setting policy direction, service delivery analysis, cost analysis, recommending technologies, or similar).
- serving as a formal project leader or project manager for complex telecommunications or IT projects.
