Telecommunications Network Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide Tier 2 and/or Tier 3 network support for complex network cases.

• Establish, and enforce best practice processes for network planning, configurations, monitoring, patch management, and security

• Implement and develop a plan to achieve high availability and reliability within the core network.

• Emphasis on sharing of knowledge through good communications, peer training, and written documentation.

• Class 4/5 Soft switch configuration, support and maintenance.

• Have knowledge of Fiber technology and its implementation technique in service provider environments.

• Configure and troubleshoot networking equipment, routers, switches, IADs, etc.

• Work closely with Project Managers and Field Technicians.

• 24/7 On call support when required

• Travel to customer sites or downtime Chicago Data Center may be required

• Other responsibilities as assigned

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

• 2 to 3 years of experience in networking.

• Experience needed with Cisco Routers and Switches, Fortinet, ASA, RADIUS/TACACS, QOS, VPN, IP MULTICAST, SIP, VOIP

• Subject Matter Expert in IP routing protocols including BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, IP MULTICAST, MPLS.

• Experience working with Co-Location providers to manage bandwidth procurement and installation.

• Willingness to take on-call responsibilities that will be shared among the Network group personnel.

• Ability to work with minimal supervision

• Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedure within the telecom arena.

• CCNA certification or equivalent is desired

• Knowledge and good understanding and networking

• Excellent Troubleshooting skills and willingness to learn new technologies.

• Ability to work remotely when required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
