Telecommunications Specialist

Summary:

The purpose of this job is to maintain, troubleshoot, and install various electronic equipment with communication abilities, such as computer networks and phone systems. Performs installation, repairing, testing, and maintenance of networking and telecommunications infrastructure across buildings. Manages access control systems across county buildings. Monitors and maintains video surveillance systems that can navigate software user interfaces to obtain necessary video footage.

Responsibilities:

• Performs on-site installation, troubleshooting, testing, termination, splicing, repairing, and maintaining telephone and networking infrastructure for county buildings.
• Manages access control system for county buildings, including controllers, card readers, contacts, relays, and parking lot gates.
• Installs, maintains, repairs, configures and manages video surveillance systems for county buildings, including Network Video Recorders and cameras.
• Manage building automation systems; creates user profiles, roles, and privileges with systems.
• Manages, tests, maintains and repairs fire alarm and suppression systems.
• Maintains and tests SecureTech critical incident notification duress system across county buildings.
• Provides technical support and training regarding electronic equipment and software applications.
• Performs related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

• At least two years of relevant college-level course work or an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Systems or a related field
• 3 to 5 years of related work experience troubleshooting low-voltage systems
• Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities

Required Licenses or Certifications

• Building Management System Manufacturer Certification
• Security Access Control Certification.
