ABOUT OUR OPERATION
Agnico Eagle has three active properties in Nunavut. The Meadowbank Complex, in operation since 2010, which uses the processing facilities and infrastructure at the Meadowbank mine site, combined with the mining and infrastructure at the Amaruq site. the Meliadine underground mine, in operation since 2019 located near Rankin Inlet, NU is our second mine in Canada’s Low Arctic. Our third mine, the Hope Bay mine, located near Cambridge Bay, NU is located in the Kitikmeot region of Nunavut. It has over 90 regional exploration targets across an 80 km greenstone belt. To support the Nunavut projects, Agnico Eagle has staff based out of 2 regional offices, located in Val d’Or and Mirabel, Quebec.
YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:
Reporting to the IT Coordinator, the Telecommunications Specialist is part of the IT/OT Department and collaborates with other departments of the mine. He/she will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
- Repair, install, configure and maintain Nunavut telecommunication installations which includes telecommunication towers infrastruction;
- Fiber optics and cabling installation, reparing and maintenance;
- Maintain and put in place CATV System design & distributions;
- Ensure FM Broadcast music fonctionality and proper configuration;
- Manage Industry Canada license and ensure laws and regulation are respected;
- With the help of the IT/OT Analysts, calculate and deploy different microwave links;
- Manage other means of communication for Surface and Underground communication infrastructure (i.e. DocSIS, WiFi, VHF/UHF systems, etc…);
- Provide technical support to internal clients;
- Maintain diagrams and proper documentation.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
- College Diploma with a specialization in telecommunications or equivalent work experience;
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in the telecommunications field;
- General knowledge of RF basics (spectrum analyzer, filtration devices, modulation, etc);
- Strong ability to work without supervision and a strong capacity for teamwork are essential;
- Knowledge or experience in managing Sepura radios (TETRA) an asset;
- Amateur Radio Certification an asset;
- Experience working in a multicultural environment;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team;
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
- Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written). Selected candidates must attain a passing mark on the SPEEXX English language assessment.
Your Work Schedule
- Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d’Or, Quebec.
