The Division of Management Services is currently recruiting to fill a Telecommunications Support Specialist (IS Network Services Specialist) position. This position will be headquartered at our central office in Madison, WI.

Note: This position will be able to work 100% remotely but may be in the office as needed (first day will be in office to retrieve mobile equipment).

Position Summary

This position is the Department’s voice telecommunications lead technician and as such, provides leadership to other professional IT staff and telecommunications system users. This position develops, promotes, and implements telecommunications hardware and software architectures for the various telecommunications systems in all DOC locations. It serves as a subject matter expert and provides direction to divisions in the architecture of systems using telecommunications facilities, methodologies, and toolsets. Extensive coordination and consultation with many other technical support units, application development units, facilities management staff, other State agencies and vendors as needed.

Salary Information

Starting salary is between $65,644 and $100,692 per year. Pay on appointment for current and former state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the compensation plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code. This position is in pay schedule and range 07-33. A 12-month probationary period is required.

Job Details

Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application. The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency to employment. Applicants who fail or refuse the drug screen will not be given further consideration for employment.

All state employees must report their COVID vaccination status, whether vaccinated or not and provide supporting documentation if vaccinated. Newly hired employees will be required to submit this information within their first two weeks of employment.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have experience:

  • With the design, implementation and support of total telecommunication systems integrating voice, network services, and premise-based equipment
  • Working with automated call distribution systems for Call Centers
  • Working with smartphones, cellular carriers, and Mobile Device Management (MDM)
