Job Summary
Ensures the delivery of quality telecommunications design, installation, service and maintenance. Directs Analyst I staff in efficient daily workflow. Responsible for the day to day maintenance of adds, moves and changes in the PBX. Provides a cohesive cabling plan for voice communications for all departments at the University of Louisville Hospital and the UofL Healthcare Outpatient Center. Acts as a system administrator for various telecommunication systems. Maintains the intercom and overhead paging system. Coordinates the installation of cable required for all new cable TV installations. Distributes and programs hospital issued cell phones, PDA phones and wireless aircards. Demonstrates commitment to the hospitals philosophy, goals and objectives. Oversees staff of Telecommunications Coordinators.

Responsibilities:

  • Primary support of telecommunications related equipment, including Nortel PBX, CallPilot Voice Mail System, Symposium Express Call Center, CallParrot Business Call Recording System, and Nortel VoIP.
  • Performs additions, moves and feature changes to all supported equipment.
    Works closely with I.T. staff testing, engineering and setup of new network/telephony integration to include special circuits, voice/fax servers and VoIP systems.
  • Supports all voice cabling/wiring facilities and equipment.
  • Maintains the intercom and paging system.
  • Trains Analyst I staff on all systems.
  • Continually evaluates existing architecture and makes recommendations for future growth.
  • Attends planning meetings to coordinate large installs, special projects and relocations.
  • Designs applications to help departments best utilize all systems.
  • Interfaces, as a first contact, with Telecommunications equipment and services vendors.
  • Supports Telecommunications Manager in the ordering/inventory process for telecommunications specific supplies.
  • Provides technical expertise in many telecommunications related situations.
  • Provides secondary backup for the installation of cable required for all new cable TV installations.
  • Assumes responsibility for physical facilities/equipment that support telecommunications voice services
  • Supports wireless communication users on setting up PDA integration with current GroupWise email service.
  • Support special circuits (T1, PRI, DSL, BRI and ISDN) with a full understanding of CSU/DSU technologies. Interface with Telco on install and service issues. Knowledge of LEC and carrier service provisioning and support.

Qualifications:


Education / Accreditation / Licensure (required & preferred):
  • College Degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Current Nortel certifications required (CS1000 and Call Pilot)

Experience (required and preferred):
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in telecommunications.
  • Experience programming PBX and voice mail (preferably Nortel). PC Skills
