Job Summary

The Telecommunications Technician is responsible for assisting with the installation, testing,

commissioning and maintenance of various types of telecommunications equipment. The

Telecom Technician reports directly to the Project Manager – Technical, and takes direction

from both the Project Manager and corresponding project Foreman.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Installing, testing and commissioning various types of equipment in the Telecom/wireless

industry. (Equipment includes, but is not limited to DC power systems, M/W radio, cellular, and

ancillary equipment).

Develop installation and commissioning skills under the guidance of more senior staff by

accepting instructions and field training for the proper completion of projects.

Responsible for recording daily timesheets with detailed description of work that was

performed.

Follow all safety guidelines outlined by Vertec.

Detail oriented, organized and able to meet tight deadlines.

Positive demeanor and able to work well independently and as part of a team.

Open and willing to accept coaching.

Comfortable with technology, including MS Office, Adobe and wireless personal devices.

Good mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of simple hand and power tools.

Qualifications

High School graduate or equivalent.

College certificate or diploma in telecommunications, electronics or any related field.

Must possess a valid driver’s license and comply with company vehicle policy.

Job related certifications are an asset, including Occupational First Aid, WHIMS, Fall Protection

Defined, Rescue Training and TDG.

Working Conditions

Physically demanding position that requires the ability to lift, carry, grip and handle

unpredictable loads.

Carry out tasks in confined spaces, at heights and under diverse weather conditions including

heavy rain and/or snowfall.

Must be willing to travel to various locations, work weekends and overtime as needed.
