Telecommunications Utility Coordinator / Assistant Project Manager
We are a telecommunications construction project management firm seeking a project coordinator / assistant project manager to join our team! The ideal candidate will perform various duties throughout the entire installation process in the telecommunications field which includes everything from site evaluation to close-out of the project.
This candidate must live in the Baton Rouge / Lafayette area and will work from both home and on the road visiting sites as needed. A personal vehicle is required to visit these sites an average of 3 day trips per week. Fuel will be covered by company for any site visits. Overnight travel will be necessary at times.
Construction Engineering Technology, Engineering Technician and Construction Management students and graduates encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
- Act as primary point of contact for mulitiple utility companies across surrounding states
- Build and maintain relationships with utility companies
- Assist the project manager on miscellaneous telecommunications construction projects (cell towers, etc.)
- Conduct fiber and utility walks with service providers (Coordination, completion, associated deliverables, etc.)
- Attend / host meetings with local power engineers as needed to expedite power delivery
- Identify and remove any road blocks associated with power and fiber delivery
- Redline A&E drawings for utility submission
- Set up power accounts for client
- Track progress of utility companies on their installations
- Attend / perform additional site visits when needed
- Manage / update project trackers (Excel, Google Sheets, Fuze, etc.)
- Plan ahead to minimize delays
Qualifications:
- Have reliable transportation
- Highly proficient on computer with experience using Excel, Word, Adobe, Powerpoint, email, and proficient at typing.
- Familiarity with CAD is a plus.
- Mac experience preferred
- Telecommunications experience preferred
- Construction experience preferred
- Experience reading and understanding construction drawings and documents preferred
- Two years experience working with utility companies preferred
- Home office required
- Must possess excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
- Must be detail oriented and have ability to multi-task.
- Must be organized, a self-starter and be willing to learn.
- Ability to work with a positive attitude and turn problems into opportunities
Education:
- Associate (Preferred)
Experience:
- Utilities Coordination Project management: 2 years (Preferred)
