About This Role
The Telecommunications Security Act (TSA) is draft legislation that defines security posture and operating principles for UK telecommunication companies that operate Critical UK Infrastructure. The act covers network equipment, network management platforms, digital workplace and identity & access managment. The act has been passed into law with the code of practice due for release in 22 –
The role holder will be accountable for the end-to-end solution architecture of the Digital Workplace and Identity & Access manament elements of the wider TSA programme, ensuring these are delivered to agreed timeframes, quality targets and within budget.
During – 2022, BT will enter a consultation phase with UK Government to shape the final requirements. This is a critical activity to ensure the solution is fit for purpose and sustainable. The role holder will be responsible for assessing the Digital Workplace and Identity Access & management requirements against BT strategy and presenting compelling cases for change where appropriate, together with the technical teams.
You’ll Have The Following Responsibilities
- A key accountability is to ensure the TSA compliant solution fully aligns with existing BT architectural principles, and also aligns to our current strategy in Colleague Services (to ensure we can re-use TSA components rather than build something isolated and specific for this use case).
- Responsible for setting the technical direction of the programme, working with platform designers to ensure sub-platform architecture is delivered to a common standard.
- Responsible for identifying inefficiencies in literal responses to solution requirement and proposing alternative mitigation to OFCOM that are better suited to BT and industry strategy.
- Responsible for enduring the programme is technically delivered within the business case and to the agreed schedule.
- Responsible for tracking and managing resolution of technical issues and risks.
- Responsible for managing stakeholders both across BT and externally, ensuring full understanding of the requirement of the programme and expectations of key stakeholders and sponsors.
- Responsible for ensuring an appropriate communication plan is in place for launch / introduction of any new service, product, or process.
You’ll Have The Following Skills & Experience
End-User Architecture and Solution Design:
Role holder will have a strong understanding of end user platform architecture delivery (see technical skills below) and integration with associated architecture (e.g networks, Public/ Private Cloud, ITIL, DevOps, SecOps).
Security Architecture and User Experience:
The role holder will have a track record of platform delivery within a secure environment. They should identity the right balance of security vs usability for end user facing systems.
Strong Stakeholder Management:
The role involves interaction with a variety of stakeholders both across BT and externally.
Strong communication skills:
Ability to present information and updates clearly and suitably for the audience. Ability to empower and influence colleagues across the organisation.
Strong Agile Skills:
The role requires the use of collaborative and agile ways of working and continuous improvement, focussing on achieving the best customer experience and results for BT.
Technical Skills (On-Prem and SaaS):
Windows Device Management and Security Posture.
Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (e.g Citrix AVD). Authentication (Active Directory, Azure AD). Identity Management.
Privileged Access Management (e.g CyberArk).
Network Infrastructure Services (e.g VPN and Proxy).
Security Tooling (Microsoft Defender, Conditional Access)
