Job Summary
- Telework (Within Minnesota or Neighboring States) and Flexible Hours Options Are Available.
The position exists to interview persons with a communication disability that have trouble accessing a standard telephone. Applications received will be reviewed and program eligibility will be determined. The consumer’s telecommunication equipment needs will be determined and training/installation will be provided when needed. The position will provide pertinent resources including information about other support services and telephone/internet discount programs. The position will assist Telephone Equipment Distribution (TED) consumer(s) to complete telephone/internet discount applications. Follow-up services to consumers who already received equipment will be provided. In addition, the position is responsible to create and implement public relation efforts for the TED Program and Minnesota Relay in the northeast region. The position will be responsible to manage and monitor regional inventory for in-person appointments. Lastly, the position will educate TED consumers about other assistive technology that benefit them.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- The process of determining eligibility of new program applicants, assessing their telecommunication needs and distributing the equipment;
- After initial services, provide ongoing support to TED consumers;
- Create and implement a regional outreach plan in conjuction with the Assistant Administrator’s statewide plan;
- Maintain and manage regional inventory for home visits and outreach activities;
- Create and respond to information and referral (I & R) requests.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

Must have work experience providing assistive technology installation, technical support, and training for consumers with a disability.
Experience must clearly demonstrate:
- Advanced skills in American Sign Language (ASL) based on the SCPI assessment;
- Inventory management of assets;
- Database management skills to retrieve, update, and manage data;
- Possess valid driver’s license;
- Customer services skills to communicate in-person and via email interactive with customers for eligibility, installation, and training on assistive technology;
- Computer skills with the ability to navigate multiple screens and databases;
- Possess problem solving skills to troubleshoot issues with assistive technology and match the consumer with the correct type of device;
- Skilled at using MS Office Suite programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook along with MS Teams or WebEx.
Preferred Qualifications
- Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures;
- Possess good organizational and time management skills;
- Experience implementing and maintaining consistent, accurate policy and procedures in determining program eligibility;
- Basic knowledge of the Title IV of the American with Disabilities Act;
- Flexible to adapt to changes in technology.

- Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) criminal background check will be conducted on all finalists for this position. Finalists must pass the DHS background check.
