About us:

You will be working within the test system development team of Airbus’s Spacecraft Production department in Portsmouth, where we are responsible for the functional testing of satellite payloads; specialising in Telecommunication, Earth Observation, Navigation, and Scientific payloads.

As the test system development branch of Spacecraft Production, we face the important challenge of designing test systems and processes to demonstrate payload performance against customer expectations, this is an exciting and unique area of the business in a team that develops both hardware and software test solutions in house from conception to delivery, always striving to develop world class cutting edge testing solutions.

Another unique advantage of spacecraft production is the exciting ability to get up close to the hardware where you will have the unique opportunity to work with flight hardware and fully built satellite payloads.

You will be joining a team of diverse, multicultural and multi discipline engineers, providing the opportunity to learn and develop the valuable skills needed to help progress within Airbus. Spacecraft production is the ideal department to start your journey within Airbus, presenting a great foundation to really learn and understand the hardware and how it is built and tested before developing into further roles and opportunities within the business.

What will you be doing?

Main activities of the role include;

• Learn to design and build electrical and RF test systems from initial concept through to delivery

• Produce manufacturing documentation including architectural and detailed design documentation, user documentation, safety assessments and product regulatory compliance.

• Familiarise with company standards, procedures, processes and work practices through on and off the job training and development.

• Opportunity to learn software packages such as labview & Java through on and off the job training and development.

• Learn the discipline and importance of collaborative working in a transnational context, with other disciplines.

• Deployment of test systems to the production team and support to the production facilities

• ‘Hands on’ testing of satellite payloads and flight hardware in a production environment

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following;

• Level 3 qualifications on entry e.g. 3 GCE “A” Levels at Grades A to C, or a vocational equivalent

• Maths and English at Level 2
