Our client is looking to hire a Transport Network Auditor on a contract basis who posses the following details below.
Responsibilities
· Work with various teams to build the inventory of existing transport network. This includes detailing the devices that are running on the network at each location including both physical and virtual network infrastructure associated with each location.
· Identify the services and service providers like telecom carriers, ISPs, and network providers used at each location. This may include telecom hotel sites and leased line
· To determine any obsolete, outdated, or nearing end-of-life devices. This includes hardware such as routers, switches, and firewalls. It may also include software, licenses, versioning, and support.
· Create HLD and LLD transport backbone network diagrams to define the various connections and relationships that exist between locations and devices within the network
· Plan and conduct internal network audits which comply with professional standards with all stake holders with focus on Network Resilience, diversity both at the physical and logical level.
· Identify present transport architecture shortcomings and propose multiple robust improvements in terms of reliability and redundancy with budgetary cost impact for implementing those changes
· As part of Audit, identify shortcomings in the internal process and propose improvements for reducing OPEX
· Develop a disaster recovery protocol and with assigned stake holders for handling situations in case of network emergency
· As a part of transport network reliability, propose spare inventory management identifying the structure and spare storage locations to handle emergency situations
- Drive and support the completion of assigned transport network audit engagements including collaborating and communicating with Management on risk mitigation action plans
- Plan and conduct follow-up reviews of Management action items to mitigate risk/control exposures
- Perform peer or quality assurance reviews of engagements ensuring documentation, conduct, evidence standards are maintained by all staff on the audit
- Perform risk assessments at the enterprise, business unit and project specific levels including interviews with Senior and Executive management
- Conduct specific investigations and provide management advice and assistance regarding risk mitigation and internal control practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a Science/ Technology related field or equivalent experience, education, and/or training
- Minimum of Five (5) years of technical work experience in large telecommunications and IT industry with a technical background in telephony and optical networking
- Exposure to network technology and experience in working core network, Data Centers, at planning and design level. Operational knowledge of transport systems is an asset
- Candidate has a strong background and good working knowledge of optical technology including DWDM, SONET, ROADM and filter systems on Ciena, Fujitsu, Nokia and other optical platforms
- Understanding of optical testing practices including OTDR, PMD, Optical Spectrum Analyzer
- Familiarity with Metro WDM and Metro Ethernet products & solutions
- IT or other professional designation (PMP), Professional Engineer (P.Eng.)
- Excellent project management and Engineering skills and experience with an ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently achieve objectives and meet timelines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all levels of the organization
- Skilled in:
- confidently and knowledgeable leading communications and negotiating with Senior Management in increasingly complex, potentially confrontational situations
- Network technology and architectures.
- anticipate and mitigate barriers to the success of projects; can also apply major problem identification and solution skills (including core, and analytical thinking)
- Committed to working in a team based, self-managed environment and foster open communication across the team
- Confident with PC skills (Microsoft office suite or equivalent) and the ability to determine and use appropriate audit tools and techniques
- Experience with data analytics tools would be an asset
- Proven ability to understand organization key policies, practices, and procedures in order to assess compliance in the course of audit work
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months
Salary: $80.00-$100.00 per hour

Experience:
- Telephony: 5 years (preferred)
- Optical Networking: 5 years (preferred)
- Core network, Data Centers, at planning and design level: 7 years (preferred)
