The Utilities Drafter and Permitting Specialist produces drawings, sketches, and diagrams for various types of telecommunications projects. This role will assist in the production of preliminary drawings, construction drawings, and project specifications throughout the project lifecycle. The Drafter will be an integral part of the design team who demonstrates the ability to collaborate professionally with Designers, Project Managers, and various other stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Produce thorough and complete drawings that meet and exceed the required scope of work and expected levels of quality
  • Ensure that all drafting assignments are completed on time and to a high level of quality
  • Ensure that all drafting assignments are legible, easy to decipher, and adhere to industry-accepted drafting standards
  • Coordinate with the Design Manager, Designer, and outside plant engineers to gather product and material requirements for inclusion in project drawings and specifications
  • Complete permitting applications with municipalities
  • Prepare preliminary sketches, drawings, and diagrams as required to assist the Directors and Executive Level Professionals in determining scopes of work, technical requirements, and overall project plans
  • Respond to design changes or needed revisions with a high degree of urgency
  • Stay up to date on industry best practices and emerging trends
  • Work to ensure that all design documents are error free and correct prior to submission
  • Promptly communicate all design challenges, obstacles, and variances to the Design Manager and Project Lead
  • Support the development and implementation of all existing and new Project Management Office programs and processes
  • Ensure all work produced is of a high quality, accurate, and professional

Skills and Qualifications

  • ESRI ArcGIS experience is a plus, but not required
  • Experience utilizing GIS data is a plus, but not required
  • Strong computer skills
  • Good math skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to learn and adapt
  • High degree of critical thinking, communication, accountability, analytical thinking, and collaboration
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Resourceful and analytical with excellent communication skills

Education Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
