This opportunity is being offered by Holtger Bros. Inc., a family-owned and operated telecommunications contractor that has been in the industry for 75 years. HBI proudly works year-round and is continually growing and looking to add skilled workers to our team.

What does a CDL Utility Construction Laborer do?

  • Transport/load/unload equipment
  • Locate existing utilities
  • Prepare cable routes and feed cable
  • Safely secure the job site
  • Operate equipment such as excavators, backhoes, vac trailers, bore rigs, and bucket trucks.
  • Complete restoration of the job site upon complete of the project (e.g.: adding topsoil, seeding, pouring new concrete)

What makes this work physically challenging?

  • Moving around on your feet for 8-10 hours daily
  • Digging with a shovel to spot existing utilities and create trenches for placing cable
  • Shoveling dirt and gravel both in and out of excavated areas
  • Spooling and unspooling cable-sometimes several hundred feet worth

Requirements:

  • Must be willing to travel throughout Southern WI Monday through Friday (home weekends if not nightly).. Majority of job sites are in the Greater Milwaukee area, Racine, and Kenosha.
  • Class A CDL (or a standard driver’s license for entry-level positions)
  • An insurance-acceptable driving record

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 – $28.00 per hour

Experience:
