operates the state’s core technology services and helps government
function more efficiently, safely, and securely. * * About the
opportunity: WaTech’s Network Services Division (NSD) delivers a
variety of telecommunication services to state agencies, boards,
commissions, federal partners, all counties, state municipalities,
tribes, and nonprofits. NSD provides 24×7 year-round support at the
highest level to the broader state government. As a Telecom
Technician, you will be relied on to perform technical consulting,
network, and system analysis as well as installation, troubleshooting,
and maintenance for voice applications in a statewide
environment. In this role you will* *analyze unique technical
requirements and implement technical solutions.
Duties
*Some of what you can expect: *
- Provide advanced problem resolution and escalation support, for all
telecommunications systems and telephony infrastructure in a highly
complex and diverse statewide environment. - Monitor, manage, and respond to all telephony services 24x7x365
enabling all state agencies to conduct essential businesses. - Identify, evaluate, and resolve intricate hardware and software
maintenance (system capacity, hardware resource monitoring, and
systems health) on a variety of complex telecommunications systems. - Maintain and monitor a highly complex, highly diverse statewide
network. - Perform virtual machine deployment, configuration, and
administration via VMware. - Conduct VMware servers (ESXI) installation, configuration, and
administration. - Monitor IP networks with Orion as well as Avaya diagnostic server
and other trace methods to identify downtime, utilization spikes,
jitter, and latency to proactively address any trouble and provide a
high-quality service. - Implement and maintain firewall rules in a voice firewall.

Detect, identify, and resolve instances of toll fraud and other
malicious attacks/events.Here is what we are looking for:

Bachelor of Science degree in information technology (IT), AND three
years of experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and engineering
Avaya, enterprise-level PBX phone systems.
**A combination of education and/or professional IT experience
totaling six or more years may substitute for the degree. **
- This experience must include:
- Three years’ experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and
engineering Avaya voicemail systems. - Three years’ experience in TDM and IP technology and IP
addressing. - Three years’ experience working on ethernet routers and
switches. - Three years’ experience in SIP technology.
- Two years’ experience working with VMware.
- Three years’ experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and
Preference shall be given to those who possess the following:
- Avaya System Manager and Teams Telephony experience.

Cisco ICND1, ICND2, CCNA certifications.
