Waveguide is a growing fiber optic communications company that specializes in providing end-to-end fiber optic solutions including the engineering, management, construction and maintenance of fiber optic networks for Fortune 500 network providers, wireless carriers, municipalities and campuses.

Position Summary
Field review, assessing current state of telecommunications network infrastructure, determining best strategy to proceed within customer guidelines and documenting what is observed. Must be comfortable with electronics and software to capture the details and conditions in the field and to work efficiently.This position will be based in our new location in the Knoxville Tennessee (TN) area.

Responsibilities:

  • Track, organize, and manage jobs assigned by determining the tasks, developing an efficient plan and reporting progress
  • Ability to develop plan for production, which includes review and supporting documentation, to meet customer goals and timeline
  • Candidate must be detail-oriented in capturing route and asset detail using equipment provided, tablet, GPS receiver, laptop
  • Ability to download/upload information collected
  • Conscientious of safety and aware of surroundings
  • Work will be performed outside, in all kinds of weather; travel and overnights should be expected, travel by commercial airline will be required at times
  • Must be able to report to job site directly
  • Able to work with multiple types of personalities, departments, projects with competing timelines
  • Other duties assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in the telecommunications, or related industry
  • MS Office and computer skills required 2-5 years of Telecommunications Field Experience
  • Field Collector/ AGOL/ ESRI Platform Experience a plus
  • Must possess Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Must be able to work independently for long durations of time
  • Must be able to develop task-based schedule for project assignments that achieves timeline and project objectives
  • Willingness to travel distances, including out of the Northeast by reasonable means with short This travel will include overnights routinely and weekends occasionally.
  • Customer service orientation with a strong problem-solving approach
  • Knowledge of telecommunications/wireless project management
  • Ability to use independent decision making that at times will require assessment of situations against standards to inform next steps
  • Willingness to perform repetitive tasks
  • Must continue to possess a Valid Driver’s License and pass random driver’s license screenings, As well as reliable transportation

Work Environment
  • Requires the ability to sit for extended periods, stand, bend, walk, communicate via telephone, computer and/or face-to-face contact, vision to monitor, and use basic office equipment such as a personal computer, copier and fax machines regularly during the course of work.
  • Must be required to operate vehicle for Company business. Work is performed in and out of an office environment.
  • Must be able to work outside in all types of weather.
