We are looking for a Wireless Communication Researcher with a strong focus on Antenna Systems and a solid background in the physical layer, to build and transfer technology competence to ensure technology leadership and profitable business for Ericsson by:
- Contributing to Ericsson technology strategy
- Developing novel concepts, solutions and algorithms
- Driving standardization
- Introducing solutions into product development
- Presenting prototypes, numerical models, concept demonstrations and publications
Your responsibilities and tasks will include:
- Drive the development of 6G mobile communication network modelling and simulation
- Modelling of the physical layer of 5G and 6G mobile communication networks with systems engineering methods
- Development of new signal processing algorithms as basis for future antenna developments
- Numerical channel coverage analyses for 5G and 6G network environments
- Channel estimation and new beamforming algorithms
- Channel sounding and channel coverage measurement in 5G and 6G testbeds
- Improvement of measurement and evaluation algorithms for testbeds
- Perform, document and communicate research studies, numerical models or computer simulations
- Create new technical solutions and protect them with Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)
- Represent Ericsson in external for a such as standardization, university collaborations, and customer meetings
- Supervise and coach other researchers and master thesis students
- Develop Research Strategies
- Develop evaluation tools, demonstrators or test beds
- Drive innovation
To be successful in this role you must have:
- A University degree (MSc, PhD) in telecommunication engineering, information engineering or related fields such as computer science, RF engineering, electrical engineering or an equivalent qualification
- Excellent knowledge of communication networks in general and specifically on the physical layer of 5G / 6G radio access networks (RAN)
- Thorough background in network measurement methods such as channel sounding and coverage analysis
- Good knowledge of the RF engineer’s toolbox, such as electromagnetism, signal processing and theory of functions / complex analysis
- Knowledge of antenna and RF component technologies is beneficial
- Understanding of artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning or neuronal networks is a plus
- Experience with 3D and 2D RF simulation software like CST, HFSS, Feko as well as in numerical modelling with Matlab / Simulink (or similar tools)
- Good programming skills (e.g. C/C++, Java, Python and Matlab)
- Outstanding analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as well as to develop and improve working methods
- High self-motivation, creativity and structured way of working
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a passion for teamwork and collaboration
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken
