What you’ll be doing…

As Network Equipment Engineer IV you will be responsible for ordering equipment per the design specifications, tracking the orders, and managing the suppliers. You will help with specific materials for 4G and 5G equipment designs following meeting maintenance engineering standards. As an equipment engineer, you will be accountable for creating statements of work for specific engineering projects. You will manage multiple projects, engage resources, and communicate with collaborators across multiple disciplines to deliver on the network plan of record. You will be responsible for accurately updating our milestones within our project management tools, to ensure task readiness. You will be expected to be a subject matter expert on our tools, equipment, and the wireless engineering process flow. You will be responsible for meeting our regional plan-of-record goals, and financial targets and will be accountable for behaving professionally at all times. When a project needs to be completed, you will determine equipment needs and order and integrate a wide range of equipment like antennas, power systems, and fiber optic cables. You’ll work closely with other Network teams such as RF Design, Operations, Real Estate, Construction, Facilities, and System Performance to implement new technologies and services to meet our network improvement goals.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintaining project oversight in FUZE SPM Managing project creation, project cancellations, and on-hold status changes in the tools.
  • Aligning project FUZE and data fields to ensure departments are task readiness in FUZE and the appropriate internal tools.
  • Coordinating, supporting, and assisting real estate and construction with site design requirements.
  • Managing the timing of submitting work orders for construction, CQ data, and equipment port assignments.
  • Ensuring construction has what they need to coordinate with the general contractors.
  • Managing project flow in FUZE PO. Running reports to track task compliance.
  • Purchasing order management – creation, receipts, matched exception issues.
  • Aiding in organizing program plans and documentation.
  • Following appropriate methods and procedures for equipment tracking and inventory control.
  • Developing, engineering, ordering, and implementing equipment requirements necessary to integrate 5G and 4G cell site equipment and peripherals.
  • Understanding and engineering DC power systems, batteries, towers, tower analysis, antennas, telecom interconnect equipment, and alarm panels.
  • Working with and administering the RFQ, Quick Bidding, Purchase Orders and equipment ordering and receiving processes, CATS.
  • Developing Work Orders, Scope of Work (SOW), and Method of Procedures (MOP) for each project.
  • Assisting as necessary to support the accounts payable function.
  • Working closely with vendors to integrate the equipment within a timely schedule and in a cost-effective manner.
  • Initiating and coordinating the investigation, test, and evaluation of new and more effective equipment.
  • Providing input for budget and implementation of regional and area planning.
  • Project managing of new technologies and services.
  • Developing methods/procedures for equipment tracking and Cell Site equipment design layout
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with the Area Planning team.

This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager.

What we’re looking for…

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
  • A valid driver’s license.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Experience in designing and implementing wireless communications systems.
  • Cell site and small cell design for wireless cellular systems.
  • Project oversight in FUZE SPM Managing project creation, project cancellations, and on-hold status changes in the tools.
  • Experience in Microsoft applications, PeopleSoft, FUZE tools, and compliance.
  • Experience in project management of large projects.
  • Knowledge of provisioning, commissioning, integration, and troubleshooting, of wireless base stations.
  • Knowledge of antenna design and performance characteristics.
  • Experience recommending modifications to CDs in regards to rack layouts, cable routing, power requirements, etc.
  • Strong leadership skills, team player.
  • Experience wireless base station engineering and design.
  • Knowledge of Nokia and Samsung RAN architecture and radio products.
  • Experience with the implementation of fiber optic and coaxial cable, power, battery back-up, antennas, and splitter/combiners.
  • Technical knowledge of Transport and Core.
  • Technical writing and communication skills.
  • Decision-making skills, making appropriate use of available information and data; making sound decisions
  • Skills in data manipulation in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
  • A degree.
