WaveStar Networks is actively working with many leading local Telecommunications Companies on extensive new aerial and underground infrastructure design projects and we are looking to add multiple team members to our Telecommunication Drafting Group who create aerial utility outside plant drawings for permit application and construction of those builds.

With head offices located in Richmond Hill ON, WaveStar Networks is a Canadian company with over 15 years’ experience providing a wide array of network infrastructure and communication system services as well as professional and consulting services to Telecommunication/ISP providers, Data Centre operators and corporate/business/public sector customers.

Telecommunications Drafter

Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed aerial utility outside plant drawings for permit application and construction using AutoCAD from concept to final design in accordance with CSA and ESA standards.
• Include updates in existing drawing to conform to current design standards.
• Review projects for completeness before submission.
• Work with project coordinators to set schedules.
• Work independently, organize own workload, complete work within budgeted hours.
• Participate in quality improvement programs for the company’s drawings and drawing process.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Civil, Electrical, or Architectural Technology diploma or equivalent work experience.
• 1 – 5+ years in a civil engineering environment with field experience is an asset.
• 1 – 5+ years in a related field of telecommunications is an asset.
• Proficient with AutoCAD a must.
• Versed using Paper Space / Model Space.
• Familiar with CSA standards, specifically CSA 22.3.
• Knowledgeable of Toronto and surrounding regional permit drawing standards is an asset.
• Able to read site drawings.
• Able to digitizing plans and create PDFs.
• Experience in creating CAD drawings using Landbase maps and ArcGIS maps is an asset.
• Experience in reading telecom network plans is an asset.
• Experience in creating AutoCAD script files is an asset.
