We are currently seeking Network Technicians (also known as Network Installers) with experience working on installations, alterations, additions, and/or repair of structured cabling systems in low voltage, associated materials and equipment on any type of project.

Responsibilities

The statements below are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties and/or skills required. Additional responsibilities may also be assigned.

  • Installing and repairing layer one communications cabling
  • Overhead and underground layout and rough-in
  • Termination of all types of copper cable including coaxial, multi-pair, and Category 3 and 6
  • Troubleshooting cable for reversals, opens, shorts, split-pairs, and transposals (with reversal)
  • Diagnose and repair issues
  • Measures, cuts, bends, assembles, and installs cable trays using measuring devices and hand tools
  • Perform all work in a safe manner which includes laying out work and preparation of materials for installation
  • Assembles and installs relay tracks, network cabinets, wall fields, and related components
  • Perform fiber optic cable installation and terminations of all types
  • Treat clients with highest degree of respect
  • Work with clients to develop a true partnership environment

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Job requires working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain, and snow.
  • Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities (Porta-Potty’s).
  • Job requires employee to have required personal tools with them at all time (waist tool belt as worn weighs approximately 30 lbs.).
  • Work from all type ladders (step ladders up to 14′, “A” frame ladders, and all size extension ladders and carry and relocate up to 12′ step ladders by one’s self.
  • Employee’s personal weight and personal tools cannot exceed weight limit of ladder (Class 1 – 250 lbs., Class 1A – 300 lbs
  • Perform work at various heights, up to 90′ from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, cat walks or other safe work areas.
  • Work in restricted areas (switchgear room, manholes, utility tunnels, crawl spaces, and attics).
  • Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat and safety glasses at all times) and respirator when required.
  • Able to work 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, overtime as required, night shifts, and extensive travel.

PHYSICAL FUNCTION:

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead.
  • Lift 51 pounds, 20 times per day.
  • Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers, including typing
  • Constantly moving on your feet.
  • Climb ladders (all types).
  • Completing overhead work for full day assignments.
  • Must be able to make transition from employee parking area or street into construction work areas and to gain access to all levels of the building, even if the only means of access is by O.S.H.A. approved site construction ladder or stairs still under construction, but acceptable for use.
  • Possess good vision (normal or corrected).
  • Possess good hearing (normal or corrected).
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions including jobsite directions, maps, and instructional manuals.
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions.

Qualifications

  • Min. 1-2 years’ experience in telecommunication systems installation and repair
  • Basic experience with fiber optics, patch panel and terminations, testing, troubleshooting and documentation of various types of telecom related cabling, including CAT 5 and CAT 6
  • Must be willing to travel. Traveling, when required, consists of short durations (4-5 days and home on weekends)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License with a Clean Driving Record
  • Ability to safely operate a commercial motor vehicle as evidenced by past driving performance record
  • Ability to work independently, and attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
  • General working knowledge of business computer skills including MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and Teams.
  • Working knowledge of laptop computer and Apple devices such as iPhone and iPad
  • Previous communication certifications are a plus
  • Enrollment in an apprenticeship training program is a plus.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent

Licensed Electrician -or- desire to become licensed electrician
