Job Description:
NOC Technician performs IP/RF network fault isolation and supports network fault resolution and event management in coordination with Sr NOC Technician, Customer NOC, Network Engineering and Field Operations. The NOC Technician performs a critical function within the network repair process and ultimately impacts the NOC’s ability to meet Network Availability and SLA commitments made to our customers.
Roles/Responsibilities:
NOC Technician’s focus will be on network surveillance, repair and availability, liaise with Sr NOC Technician, Network Engineering and Customer NOC to resolve outages and oversee change management activities in a 24/7/365 operating environment – additional responsibilities are listed below.

• Technical Escalation: The primary function of the NOC Technician will be to serve as technical support within the NOC organization, serving as a technical escalation point to all other CNOC technicians, and is responsible for engaging Sr NOC Technician, Network Engineering or vendor for additional support when necessary.

• Network Surveillance: Under general supervision for monitoring and taking corrective action on infrastructure within a 24/7/365 NOC environment on a team that is responsible for supporting an IP network and RF telecommunications infrastructure

• Network Fault Management: NOC Technicians will be expected to perform fault isolation and repair on RF and IP platforms, particularly when escalated to by the CNOC

• Network Performance Management: Under general supervision the NOC Technician is responsible for maintaining and updating performance monitoring and management systems, including backup of network element configurations, graphing, logging and alarming. Responding to audit and network alarm reports along with related triage and repair process inclusive of opening tickets and escalating to Sr NOC Technician or Network Engineering as needed

• Network Maintenance Support: NOC Technicians are required to understand and adhere to the process for monitoring network maintenance activities as needed

• Shift Work – NOC operates in 24/7/365 environment and may require shift rotation, and on call rotation

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team

• Excellent oral and written communications skills required

• Strong interpersonal and professional skills; able to handle stress when working with customer and/or other employee’s issues with diplomacy

• Position requires self-initiative and must be able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks with independent decision-making

• Basic understanding of IP Routing Principals

• Strong understanding of OSI model

• Basic understanding of standard operations concepts such as availability, redundancy, reliability and testing

• A.S. or technical school degree in related field and 2 years’ experience or Juniper/Cisco, IT certifications plus 1-2 years’ experience in a NOC or Technical Call Center environment may substitute for formal education requirement

Preferred Qualifications:

• Hands on experience in a wide variety of telecommunications networks to include Cisco, Juniper, and wireless radio equipment
• 2 plus years’ experience as WISP or ISP as NOC Technician
• CCNA or JNCIA
• Can work remotely but must live in Phoenix of Las Vegas
