Mission:

The Bell Media Agency Quebec team is made up of experts in various fields who are dedicated to promoting our company’s rich portfolio of brands across all touchpoints. The Agency’s brand marketing management team is a group of skilled professionals with the passion and ability needed to manage all of Bell Media’s brands within a constantly evolving environment. Everyone works closely with other departments in order to achieve Bell Media’s business objectives.

The Agency’s Creative Services team is an integrated creative and production team that handles tasks such as graphic design, copywriting, directing, creative and art direction, and production. Creative Services works in tandem with audio and video post-production in order to meet creative needs of all kinds. As a fully integrated supplier of comprehensive brand marketing management as well as marketing creative and production, the Bell Media Agency Quebec is able to meet 360-degree communications needs.

As part of the Agency’s Creative Department, the Graphic Manager will work in close collaboration with other key personnel on the creative team (creative director, artistic directors, copywriters, directors, graphics and creative project coordinators, production and post-production) and the Agency’s brand management marketing team to ensure flawless delivery of graphic projects for our various brands in terms of both quality and quantity.

The holder of the Graphic Manager position will be responsible for supervising and managing graphic operations for all brands. With the support of the coordinators and the design team, he or she will evaluate and assign resources to meet specific needs, from web banners to logo creation to 2-D and 3-D projects of all kinds for print, web and TV production requested by various departments.

The Graphic Manager must work in accordance with the standards recognized and established by the company, the department’s objectives and Bell Media’s mission and values.

Nature and Scope of Position:

As part of the Agency, the Graphic Manager – Creative Department will:

  • Supervise, manage and evaluate graphic design resources on his/her team (3 different unionized teams)
  • Set individual and team objectives and follow up throughout the year using the tools provided by Bell
  • Manage his/her share of the budget and production timelines for print, web, and TV projects
  • Plan the use of graphic design resources and assign personnel to projects based on the allocated budget, their capabilities, the clients’ requirements and the needs of creative and production (print, web, 2-D, 3-D, etc.). Maintain a skilled, diverse pool of freelance and temporary graphic designers based on our creative and technical needs
  • Supported by RDS’s Assignment Department, verify and organize the schedules of unionized permanent, temporary and freelance graphic designers. Handle requests for vacation or leave and any other administrative tasks relating to his/her team
  • With the support of three coordinators, plan, assign and coordinate comprehensive graphic design requests (print/web/TV) relating to the Bell Media Agency Quebec in order to meet the various needs of our TV, radio and web brands, ranging from producing integrated 360-degree advertising campaigns to designing opening credits for shows
  • Organize weekly status meetings at both sites with the graphic and creative project coordinators in order to follow up on projects in progress and provide support and assistance in dealing with various issues
  • Serve as a key liaison between various people involved in creative and production projects, such as the creative director, artistic directors, directors and other managers and coordinators, in order to optimize processes, make effective use of time and fully leverage the talents of graphic artists and designers on each project
  • Manage and plan technological changes such as system updates and migrations as well as related training needs
  • Purchase plug-ins, software, photos, videos and any other items required for graphic design purposes
  • Serve on the union’s labour relations committees and ensure follow-up and a healthy working relationship with union leaders
  • Communicate with suppliers such as printers with regard to colour proofs, print runs, etc. or with other partners in order to explain and clarify the specifics of graphic projects

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or CEGEP degree in a related field or any other specialized program that is relevant to the job (training in management, post-production, graphic design, VFX, digital or TV production, etc.)
  • Over five years of experience as a production or post-production manager or supervisor, studio manager, graphic design or production project manager or other relevant experience, preferably in the field of media, digital or TV production
  • Knowledge of Suite Adobe CC (Photoshop, Indesign, After Effects, Cinema4D, HTML5) software and new technology in the field (knowledge of Media Pulse and SAP is an asset)
  • Excellent team player with superior communication and interpersonal skills
  • Thorough understanding of the graphic creation process and capacity to evaluate and develop graphic concepts (balance, simplicity and clarity)
  • Excellent ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects with very tight deadlines, strong capacity to handle stress and demonstrated ability to adapt to change
  • Be flexible, motivated and devoted to the success of the team and company, with a strong interest in human resources
