Hamilton-based telecommunications company is currently seeking experienced fiber splicers to join our growing team.
Duties and Responsibilities includes but not limited to:
- Splicing, testing, and troubleshooting of fiber sites and links
- Read and comprehend engineered plans and blueprints
- OTDR Testing, troubleshooting and repair
- Complete daily paperwork (update “as built” documents, time sheets etc.)
- Experience in FTTX new construction. Entering cables into all FOSC, OFDC types including PLP, Commscope
- Experience in entering, traying and splicing new cables into existing cans
- Familiar with Ribbon splicing
- Maintaining project and telecom safety documentation
- Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- Ability to work in all weather conditions, confined spaces, isolation
- Ability to work in a physically demanding atmosphere including, but is not limited to: carry, raise and climb a ladder, carry, lift and handle heavy equipment (manhole covers, cable reels)
- Work independently and collaboratively with other team members to achieve common project/site objectives
Experience Required:
- 1+ years Fiber Optic splicing experience
- Technical training considered an asset
- Previous telecommunications experience an asset
- Field experience in outside plant (OSP) operations
Additional Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license, reasonable driver abstract
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or on emergency call outs as required
- The successful candidate will be required to pass a criminal record check
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $28.00-$38.00 per hour
