Fiber Optic Splicing Technician

Hamilton-based telecommunications company is currently seeking experienced fiber splicers to join our growing team.

Duties and Responsibilities includes but not limited to:

• Splicing, testing, and troubleshooting of fiber sites and links
• Read and comprehend engineered plans and blueprints
• OTDR Testing, troubleshooting and repair
• Complete daily paperwork (update “as built” documents, time sheets etc.)
• Experience in FTTX new construction. Entering cables into all FOSC, OFDC types including PLP, Commscope
• Experience in entering, traying and splicing new cables into existing cans
• Familiar with Ribbon splicing

• Maintaining project and telecom safety documentation
• Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
• Ability to work in all weather conditions, confined spaces, isolation
• Ability to work in a physically demanding atmosphere including, but is not limited to: carry, raise and climb a ladder, carry, lift and handle heavy equipment (manhole covers, cable reels)
• Work independently and collaboratively with other team members to achieve common project/site objectives

Experience Required:

• 1+ years Fiber Optic splicing experience
• Technical training considered an asset
• Previous telecommunications experience an asset
• Field experience in outside plant (OSP) operations

Additional Requirements:

• Valid driver’s license, reasonable driver abstract
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or on emergency call outs as required
• The successful candidate will be required to pass a criminal record check

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $28.00-$38.00 per hour
