Field Operations Engineer

Must Haves:

• 3+ years current experience in a telecommunications role with direct experience with RAN, 4G LTE cell site troubleshooting and testing experience
• Ability to read technical drawings such as as-builts, construction drawings, and MOP’s
• Familiar with testing protocols to include transport, RF, and full base-station turn-up, commissioning, and validation testing
• Experience troubleshooting antenna systems from transmitter to antenna using tools like a spectrum analyzer
• Performing troubleshooting, and maintenance of base station equipment, radio transmitters, and Fiber network gear and test equipment
• Testing the fiber network and integrating network hardware to bring new sites on-air
• Electronics training in telecommunications, two-way radio, paging, or microwave radio
• Computer support experience, including troubleshooting PC hardware and configurations
• Extensive in Market Travel required visiting sites throughout the market – Up to 75%

Plusses:

• Expertise in PIM/VSWR/MIMO/RET including knowledge of fiber and LTE remote radio heads
• Experience with Lucent, Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, or Ericsson, base station equipment with LTE or CDMA technology.
• Experience with dark and lit fiber testing using equipment such as OTDR, fiberscope
• Experience working with fiber and power companies, with an understanding of scheduling walks and dealing with meter sets

Day-to-Day:

The Field Operations Engineer (with some Field Construction responsibilities) will be located in market and responsible for coordination with internal and external stakeholders for the buildout of market area. The FE will work with the RF, SAC, zoning, GC’s/Vendors to ensure that the best possible sites are built to meet the companies cost, quality and timelines. Will be responsible for construction process, post construction checks, Single Site verification, commissioning, site acceptance, testing and maintaining cell sites and edge and local data center installations. Responsibilities include regular maintenance, keeping inventories, and doing audits as well.

Primary responsibilities:

• Responsible for cabinet inspection to ensure there is no post-construction issue on the site
• Validate the breaker placement, GPS cable is connected, and backhaul fiber is connected
• Ensure that power and telco deliveries are synchronized with construction activities
• Ensure fiber connections are configured correctly at the site and at the LDC. Also, test it using the EXFO/Viavi, OTDR, Fiberscope tool
• Verify power, Telco, and other site configuration and validate the GC COP to ensure site is ready for commissioning
• Support and deploy as needed a CU-CP and CU-UP Network Function using VMWare Telco Cloud Automation Platform and will run test and troubleshoot if remote config file push fails
• Support and deploy as needed a DU Network Function using VMWare Telco Cloud Automation Platform They will run test and troubleshoot if remote config file push fails
• Responsible to configure the CSR at the sites
• Verify antenna positions to confirm azimuth and abnormal tilts, color labeling, etc.
• Responsible for single site verification to ensure there is no VSWR/ PIM/ RET/ swap issue using EXFO tool
• Work closely with RF and operation/construction war room team to triage and troubleshoot any network functionality issues during construction, post construction and commissioning phase of work
• Be able to read and review construction drawings
• Coordinate hand construction activities including site walks and inventory coordination
• Interface with multiple teams to ensure project completion on time and within budget

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $30.00 – $45.00 per hour
