About The Role

Due to the continued success and expansion of Waldon we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Town Planner to be part of our Town and Country Planning team in the UK. You would be working as part of a dedicated team within Waldon to assist in all stages of the planning process, from site selection to completion.

The role & responsibilities:

As a Senior Town Planner you would have the opportunity to develop a lead planning role on one or more projects, acting as Special Point of Contact for the client and other internal departments, to ensure delivery of planning milestones. You would assist in achieving a balance between the needs of the customer and those of local authorities and communities. You would also provide support to the wider planning team and to acquisition and design specialists across Waldon’s various projects.

You will:

  • Working closely with acquisition specialists and designers to assist in the selection and progression of the optimal siting and design options to meet the client’s needs.
  • Undertaking research and site appraisals to identify planning issues and opportunities.
  • Development of creative and original planning solutions to satisfy both clients and local authorities.
  • Consulting with stakeholders and other interested parties from pre-application stage through to site completion and dealing with responses in a community liaison role.
  • Responsible for delivering and overseeing delivery of high quality written planning application and appeal submissions on a number of different client projects.
  • Attending site to advise engineers and surveyors on the siting and appearance of telecoms installations.
  • Monitoring progress of planning submissions, liaising with local authority planners and attending committee meetings as required.
  • Compiling written assessments of refused planning applications and making recommendations to the client on the potential viability of appealing refusals versus pursuing alternative site options or designs.
  • Provision of ad-hoc town planning advice to clients and colleagues as and when required.
  • Keeping up to date with planning legislation relevant to the fields in which the company is focussed.
  • Attaining up to date knowledge of client specific procedures and requirements and providing procedural advice and support to colleagues.
  • Creating and developing strong, effective relationships with clients.
  • Facilitating the development of junior and graduate team members, assisted by your line manager.

What we need from you.

Qualifications:

  • RTPI accredited or planning related degree (Planning, Urban Design and Landscape, Transport Planning, Environmental specialisms)
  • Experience in mobile telecommunications field or similar.

  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet key deadlines in a pressurised, target driven environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships across a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Be able to drive with a clean licence
