UPN is seeking an experienced Senior Network Design Engineer located in UPN’s Kansas City Head Quarters offices. This candidate must be an experienced Network Engineer who will be a member of a central Engineering team responsible for designing and supporting a multi-state service provider network.

Specific responsibilities could include:

  • Manage and maintain UPN Core Network infrastructure in support of UPN service offerings.
  • Support other UPN Engineering groups for designing network solutions for customers.
  • Manage assignments of network numbering resources.
  • Create and maintain network documentation.
  • Provide on call tier 3 support for the Core network.
  • Perform and or assist with maintenance of network equipment during scheduled maintenance windows.
  • Participate in the development of network design standards.
  • Participate in the development of equipment configuration standards.
  • Assist market Engineering teams when provisioning new customers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Some requirements for the position include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Network Engineer in Telecommunications.
  • Creating Technical Designs and Documentation of customer solutions.
  • Detailed understanding of modern Service Provider data networks and technologies (IPv4, IPv6, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, Segment Routing, L2VPN, L3VPN, etc…).
  • Detailed understanding of carrier or service provider routing platforms such as Cisco, Juniper, Nokia and others.
  • Strong understanding of WDM based Optical Transport Networks (Experience with Cisco 15454 platforms a plus).
  • Strong understanding of network monitoring practices in support of a customer SLA and for internal capacity planning needs.
  • Familiarity with Linux systems, vendor EMS systems, and similar applications.
  • Familiarity with Python and other automation tools (Ansible, Git, Puppet, Chef and others).

Pay: $80,000.00 – $120,000.00 per year
