JOB DESCRIPTION
Duties:
- Sets up and carries out electrical tests under the supervision of an engineer or technologist.
- Performs laboratory measurements following established procedures and records the results.
- Operates computers and test instruments as required for testing. Performs routine repairs,
maintenance and calibration of electrical test equipment, tools and instruments.
- Builds or modifies test jigs and support structures to be used for electrical tests.
- Specifies and purchases materials and equipment needed for routine operation of electrical test
labs.
- Maintains test facilities in a safe and organized condition.
- Maintains log books and files to document tests performed, operating procedures, equipment
calibration, etc.
- Performs duties of a minor nature related to the above duties which do not affect the rating of the
job. This includes the performance of duties across disciplines in a job of the same or lower job
group.
- Certificate of Technology from an Institute of Technology in Electronics (Power/control option),
Electrical, Power, Telecommunications, Instrumentation or Automation disciplines with preference
given to the discipline directly relating to the position or lab.

- Two (2) years of related experience working in a lab setting up and performing tests on a variety
of electrical equipment, components and cables.

sticks including inspection, and high-voltage dielectric testing on-site. In addition to insulated
safety tools, we also provide assembly of new worker protection grounds (WPG), inspection,
testing, repairs, and recertification of existing grounds. This service can also be provided in our
shop or in the field.
- Certificate/ Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology is required for this role
- General technical knowledge in power system safety equipment (grounds, hot sticks, bucket
trucks) , DC and AC High Voltage Testing would be an asset.
- Knowledge of substation and/or distribution equipment would be an asset
- Testing experience of substation and/or distribution equipment would be an asset
- Drafting skills would be an asset
- Experience in High Voltage Testing is desirable
- Experience with data acquisition and analysis equipment is desirable
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work at heights > 10 feet
- Must be able to travel up to 50% across various locations in BC may be required
- Must have a valid class 5 driver’s license
- Must be able to perform all physical requirements of the role
