In your role as Telecommunication Coordinator – Staff Housing, at The North West Company (NWC), you are responsible to Manage, support and optimize the telecommunications needs for Northern store staff housing.

Your Role:

  • Day to day management and reporting of voice and data expense lines for NCR staff housing units.
  • Research and add staff house telephone numbers and ISP info into Avema and ensure the Avema description includes the service location (house number);
  • Billing to be sent to head office for all internet and telephone services until billing goes to Avema;
  • Ensure monthly telephone and data circuit usage is monitored and be able to explain variations on the monthly bills;
  • Explain the exception and/or take action on problem areas and be able to provide long distance information down to line level detail;
  • Ensure monthly billing is sent to accounts payable on time to avoid late payments;’
  • Triage service desk tickets related to telephone/internet issues in staff house which includes corporate services present in staff houses (eg. Starlink);
  • Log tickets with service provider, follow through to resolution and perform backup support for corporate telecom analyst;
  • Understand the devices and systems available on the market today. Look for solutions that can maintain ease of management, Control costs, and Reduce physical phone lines (IP phones for example);
  • Understand the capabilities of currently owned technologies. Use or recommend changes where cost savings or user functionality can be enhanced;
  • Provide guidance to all users regarding their telephony and wireless data needs when they are given a new device/plan/or changes to their plan; and
  • Develop and/or review policies for management approval regarding telecom related technologies.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Must have basic computer and Microsoft office skills.
  • Must have or be eligible to acquire a valid Canadian passport
  • Experience in an IP telephony environment is preferred.
  • Experience in MS Teams administration would be an asset.
  • Must have knowledge of residential communication devices.
  • Previous experience in a customer service role and contract administration is preferred.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Must be well organized to meet multiple commitments and be able to work independently.
