On behalf of our client in the Telecommunication Sector, PROCOM is looking for a Locates Platform Specialist.
Locates Platform Specialist – Job Description
- Monitoring Locate Tickets, Emergency Tickets, construction activities around High Risk Fibers and Locate escalations
- Live support for Locate Desk and Locate Service Providers (LSP)
- Managing Locate escalations and arranging site visits and tracer wire installations
- Responding to locate inquiries and 1call centers compliance by phone or email
- Monitoring Design & Planning tickets and distribution to appropriate people for action
- Providing technical support to LSPs and verifying maps
- Co-ordinating mapping updates for 1call centers and engaging Internal teams as required
- Liaise with 1call centers and provide support when needed
- Preparing detail monthly reports for statistics and financial reports
- Reporting Map Discrepancies and following up to ensure correction action is applied
- Develop and maintain a strong and productive working relationship with other utility owners and Municipalities
- Assist in damage awareness and prevention aspects of Damage Prevention program
- Conduct special projects as requested by Management
- Represent DP on committees and/or focus groups as required
- Identify and share new damage/liability trends, and significant control weaknesses or deficiencies
- Develop and maintain a network of internal & external contacts, including key personnel within other utilities, to assist client with damage prevention program
Locates Platform Specialist – Mandatory Skills
- Post-Secondary education required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Telecommunication and Damage Prevention
- Good understanding of HFC network, Telecom construction standards, Locate Process, 1Call systems and procedures
- Good Understanding of Locate Management Software, locate desk clearance activities and field locate operation
- Ability to work effectively in a high-volume environment prioritizing and responding appropriately to customer and business priorities
- Demonstrated ability to make independent, sound decisions within tight time frames that reflect depth of knowledge
- Ability to interact in a positive manner with contractors, facilitate meetings and present publicly
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point and SharePoint
- Ability to acquire skills with internal IT applications and systems used by the DP Unit
- Ability to work overtime/ flexible shifts in the evening and on weekends when required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to write clear and concise reports
- Knowledge of Process improvement and automation is an asset
- This role may involve some occasional travel within Ontario, the successful candidate must possess a valid Ontario driver’s license and have a good driving record
