With Guys & St Thomas’ being a world leader in healthcare, IT has become a supporting pillar and the telecoms team support the critical real time communications across the estate.

Working in a highly motivated and dedicated team supporting one of the UK’s largest NHS trusts across multiple sites, supporting our Nortel and Avaya telephone systems and its 18,000 users, fixing faults, patching outlets, and configuring phones, the job is challenging and rewarding, helping our staff to deliver patient care.

The successful applicant will be able to keep calm under pressure, be focused and deliver to a high standard with attention to detail, have knowledge of Nortel CS1000M and Avaya Aura phone systems and proven experience in effectively supporting a large scale, complex IT&T environment and managing a busy workload.

Managing your own queue in service now

Fixing phone and IT connection faults

Installing new IP & analogue phones

Creating new phones on the Nortel CS1000m and Avaya Aura phone systems and configuring voicemail and basic call hunting and pickup setups.

Patching IT outlets

Updating excel records

Working with our staff and other operational teams to understand and fix issues

The telecoms team is a small dedicated group of engineers based out of two main offices (one at St Thomas’ Hospital and the other at Guys Hospital). The team manage their own workloads but help each other out when needed.

The job queue is never ending but diverse and there’s always a need to improve our frames and cabinets and check records when we get on top of the work.
