About this position:
This position provides promotion assistance to programs in the Agriculture Development Division. This person will provide promotion, marketing, communication, and event planning assistance to the Agriculture Development Division, including food and agriculture development services, grant opportunities and export marketing programs and offerings. These include but are not limited to coordinating Michigan pavilions at state, domestic, and international trade shows; export seminars, webinars and trade missions; and other events as applicable. Promotion, marketing, and event coordination are key duties for this position. Position will work to implement multiple on-going projects that support the program goal of growing Michigan food, agriculture, and forest products firms through promotion of development opportunities, exports, agriculture sales in to new markets.

Education
Possession of a bachelor’s degree in any major.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a specialization in agriculture, business or public administration, marketing, communications, economics, international relations, foreign language studies or closely related area preferred.
Experience
Promotional Agent 9
No specific type or amount is required.
Promotional Agent 10
One year of professional experience providing professional promotional agent services equivalent to a Promotional Agent 9.
Promotional Agent P11
Two years of professional experience providing professional promotional agent services equivalent to a Promotional Agent, including one year equivalent to a Promotional Agent 10.

Leave Time
Full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 vacation days per year. Employees also receive 13 sick days per year and 8 hours of leave to participate in certain school functions or community activities. Holidays
State employees receive 13 scheduled holidays each year, including New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, Memorial Day, and Veterans Day, just to name a few. State employees also receive Election Day off every other year.

Paid Parental Leave
Provides eligible individuals up to 12 weeks of paid leave immediately following birth or adoption of a child.
Deferred Compensation
Employees invest income in a tax-deferred retirement investment program. The state offers two optional deferred compensation plans, the 457 and 401(k). Employees decide the amount deducted from their paychecks.
Retirement
Employees receive a minimum 4% state contribution toward their retirement fund. If an employee elects to contribute more, the state will match up to 3%. The Office of Retirement Services administers two different retirement plans for State of Michigan employees: Defined Benefit (DB) and Defined Contribution (DC). New hires can also receive up to a 2% employer match into a Personal Healthcare Fund and a lump-sum credit to a tax-deferred account if eligible.
