Derivatives is part of the Financial and Professional Services (FPS) division of Euromoney Institutional Investor, an international business-information group listed on the London Stock Exchange and a member of the FTSE 250 share index.

The Derivatives business currently comprises two business units (Data Services and New & Insights) with two data brands (Euromoney TRADEDATA and Structured Retail Products) and five New & Insights brands (Global Investor Group, FOW, ISF, Total Derivatives and SRP News) with a combined annual revenue of c.£15m. SRP, the leading provider of structured product news, data and events, and part of Euromoney Institutional Investor, is looking for a financial reporter with up to two years of relevant experience to join the editorial team and expand our coverage of the Americas market (US, Canada and Latin America).

The role is based in the UK (London) and will report to SRP’s London-based managing editor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Originate, research, write, create and present news and feature stories and interviews for our website and email newsletters.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest deal, technology and employment events, and
  • Develop a network of key contacts in the Americas market, and become the go-to journalist for the industry.
  • Be accurate, detail-oriented and impartial when covering stories and events.
  • Use social media to promote the stories and discussion/debate around them.
  • Work with the editorial team on larger editorial projects, such as special reports on technology developments and investment sectors.
  • Provide cover when other members of the editorial team are away (training provided).
  • Some international travel will likely be required.

KEY INTERFACES

  • Keep the managing editor regularly informed of market news in the Americas region and potential stories for commissioning, including via the weekly news meeting.
  • Keep the data and editorial teams informed of new structured products and trends and inform analysts of potential contacts that would assist them in their market analysis.

Essential

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Experience writing high quality content for a reputable news organisation.
  • An understanding of how financial markets work or a willingness to learn more (training will be provided). Interest in business and finance is a must.
  • An excellent eye for detail.
  • The ability to create imaginative, accurate and compelling news and feature stories.
  • The ability to explain technical concepts accurately and engagingly.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfortable networking.

Desirable

  • Experience creating content for the web and social media platforms.
  • A degree or postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject.
  • Experience of public speaking.
  • We are known for our data-driven journalism, so numeracy would be a benefit.
