The VNA is seeking a full time Director of IT & Telecommunications to work with our Information Technology team. The Director of IT is responsible for assessing, planning and executing the strategic and routine direction of the Information Technology (IT) function. Under minimal guidance from the Vice President of Non-Clinical Operations, provides strategic leadership and pragmatic solutions to address technological, telecommunication and systems data security for the organization. In this role, will demonstrate the VNA Core Values while performing the management and hands-on activities related to the IT function, which includes developing and supervising IT department staff; rotating on-call schedule for self and IT staff; develop, implement and manage network services, servers, and software applications; source, negotiate and manage all technical vendors, contracts and relations, and develop and maintain appropriate policies and procedures to ensure the integrity of all systems, as well as, the compliance of all VNA associates regarding IT policies, procedures, and proprietary and regulatory privacy information. The Director of IT is an internal consultant and business partner interfacing with decision makers and all levels of the organization to identify, recommend, develop, implement, train, assist, and deliver cost effective technology solutions for all areas of the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure reliable and effective, on-going management of information security policies, procedures and technical (IT) systems to maintain the confidentiality, integrity and availability of all organization and healthcare information
- Understand the technology needs of the business to ensure proper selection, implementation and utilization of new and existing technology
- Oversee and manage all IT contracts and licenses to ensure greatest return on investment for the organization; includes benchmarking, selecting and negotiating contract terms and prices; ensuring that all vendors are fulfilling their business agreement obligations for the benefit of the organization
- Monitor and maintain all servers, telephone hardware, software and communication links to ensure the stability and integrity of all in-house computing, voice and telephony systems across the organization, 24 hours/7 day a week
- Communicate to all users the IT on-call schedule for self and IT staff
- Participate with the VP of Non-Clinical Operations on the development and implementation of a multi-year strategic plan; assessing and identifying all technical needs of internal customers and/or new technology services to expand and enhance the organization’s capability and/or address future technical needs
- Manage and implement long-term and short-term department objectives to achieve annual strategic direction while operating within budget
- Benchmark, evaluate and recommend improvements to the IT infrastructure and systems to address current and future technical needs
- Manage IT customer support related to all systems, including communication and education of VNA associates to guarantee understanding of IT policies and procedures, understanding and proper utilization of all technical, computer and communication systems during and after business hours
- Manage IT company inventory and department resources, including monitoring proper compliance, especially HIPAA and PHI related, as well as overall utilization by all associates
- Maintain and update as needed, the IT Disaster Recovery Procedures, including all communication and training of IT staff and end users on proper protocol
- Lead and manage the daily operation of the IT department and staff to deliver the highest quality service and reliability of all technical and communication systems
- Manage and carry out all supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws; including hiring and evaluating staff performance, planning and directing work; recognizing and rewarding and coaching and counseling staff; and assigning goals and assignments that further develop each member of the team
- Demonstrate competent interpersonal skills, listening, written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills to convey information to all levels of the organization, including board of director, on topics related to area of expertise.
- Participate in committees and meetings providing technical expertise as requested
Qualifications:
Four to ten years’ experience in related work or field; experience in Not-For- Profit and Health Care industry a plus. Four years supervisor or management experience preferred.
