About the role:
In this role, the successful candidate’s main tasks will be to perform civil inspection duties on various types of telecommunications structures. He will also prepare telecommunication design drawings that meet the established project criteria and all applicable standards.
Responsibilities:
Here is a preview of your day-to-day:
Inspecting:
- Climb telecommunication towers for inspections, structural audits and post construction reviews;
- Co-ordinate with designers, engineers, and other project team members;
- Liaise with clients, contractors and property managers;
- Prepare written reports for construction review, structural investigations, feasibility studies or condition assessment.
Drafting:
- Actively participates in all rooftop and tower projects during the design process;
- Provide technical details and sketches for engineers and clients;
- Produce preliminary and complete drawings;
- Produce fabrication drawings;
- Manage deadlines appropriately;
- Perform field visits independently or as part of a team of 2 or more people;
- Manage a variety of projects simultaneously.
Qualifications:
Here is a summary of the requirements for this position:
- College Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, or an Engineering degree preferably in civil or structural disciplines;
- knowledge of AutoCAD, Microsoft office including word, excel and other relevant software;
- Knowledge of CSA-S37-18 and applicable building codes in site specific regions;
- Field experience;
- Ability to understand sketchesAbility to independently and efficiently write technical reports (documenting observations, non-conformances and quality-related issues) and ability to collect accurate field measurements and data;
- Good observation, communication skills and attention to detail;
- Proven ability and willingness to travel for extended periods and to climb telecommunication towers and work at heights in all seasons and across Canada;
- Capable of working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment;
- Effectively manages a variety of projects simultaneously;
- Enjoys working in a professional office environment;
- Experience with work relating to field inspection of telecommunication tower structures an asset;
- Prior steel and concrete experience an asset;
- Building / construction industry experience an asset;
- Bilingual in English and French would be an asset.
