Cable Jetter

Working under the supervision of the Foreman, the Jetter will assist in the installation of telecommunication cables and apparatuses to support the Expercom Civil Team.

Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret blueprints or job specifications to execute all work assigned safely and in accordance to the Company’s health and safety policy;
• Work outdoors in various conditions to place copper or fibre optic telecommunication cables;
• Clean and maintain tools and equipment;
• Accurately record and report project progress to the appropriate supervisory person and communicate any issues or expected delays;
• Work with underground cable placing equipment (Jetting equipment);
• Understand handling principles of fibre optic cable and micro fibre cable;
• Trouble shoot networking and design plans and identify roadblocks prior to installation;
• Ability to track and manage materials related to work function;
• Performs other duties as required;

Qualifications:

• 6 months of previous experience in a cable jetting role preferred
• Experience working with Jetting equipment an asset
• Electrical Techniques or Electrical Technician schooling is an asset
• Must have a valid “G” Driver’s License or equivalent and a good driver’s abstract
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Ability to climb poles and work at heights up to and exceeding 30 feet
• Good communication skills with the ability to work independently or in a team
• Basic knowledge of fibre optic cable prepping and splicing an asset
