About the Opportunity

CampTek currently has an exciting opportunity for a Chief Operating Officer (COO) – Telecommunications to join our senior leadership team on a full-time basis, remotely in either BC or Alberta. Domestic and international travel will be required for this role.

Reporting directly to the CEO, the COO will be responsible for CampTek’s day-to-day operations in both Canada and the US, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction, operating efficiency, and maximizing revenue expectations. You will also be responsible for implementing operational initiatives that lead to profitable growth and ROI for the organization, and participate in strategies that will help us achieve our vision for expansion.

Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing leadership, insight, guidance, and direction on business matters including policies and procedures, new business initiatives, and day-to-day business operations
  • Working with leadership from all departments across the organization, including technology, sales, and field operations
  • Designing and implementing business strategies, plans, and procedures which set clear goals for performance and for growing market share with both existing and new clients
  • Leading the effectiveness of all processes related to operations, providing timely, accurate, and meaningful information on the operating conditions of the business
  • Displaying strong leadership to employees, to encourage maximum performance and dedication
  • Evaluating overall performance by analyzing and interpreting data and metrics
  • Drafting, presenting, and submitting reports to the CEO in all matters of significance to business operations
  • Assisting CEO in new business ventures and participating in expansion activities such as investments, acquisitions, corporate alliances, etc.
  • Managing relationships with partners and vendors and participating in new business development initiatives

More About You

In order to qualify for this role, you will need at least 10 years of proven experience as a COO or a similar senior operational role, leading a high-performing team. Previous telecommunications background, specifically satellite telecommunications, is essential for this role. Post-secondary education or certifications in Business Administration, Telecommunications, or another related field, would be ideal. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

As our ideal candidate, you will possess strong leadership skills, operational acumen, and commercial experience, to ensure continued profitable growth. An entrepreneurial mindset and ability to look at the big picture is essential for this role. The following skills will ensure your success as our new COO:

  • Understanding of business functions such as HR, finance, marketing, etc.
  • Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development
  • Working knowledge of IT/Business infrastructure and MS Office
  • Good business development and commercial experience
  • Exceptional work ethic and the commitment and tenacity to see projects through
  • Coaching and mentorship experience, to encourage others to achieve personal excellence

You are highly motivated, self-sufficient, and possess strong leadership attributes. You have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both inside and outside the organization. Moreover, you possess excellent project management and problem-solving skills, and you are able to manage multiple assignments and tasks concurrently while setting priorities and adapting to changes as needed.
