SUMMARY
Coordinate the operations of the telecommunications equipment distribution (TED) program within their service Region. Tasks include equipment application process, appointment and travel scheduling, demonstration of equipment and installation/training to recipients by entering consumer homes, database maintenance, inventory management, specialized equipment orders, invoicing process, technical support to recipients, and correspondence with statewide TED team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Educates through outreach, presentations, trainings, and workshops. Works with CSD colleagues to promote TED and South Dakota Relay programs to potential program recipients and service entities serving the deaf and hard of hearing population
- Works with recipients toward the familiarity and selection of accessible telecommunication equipment, including specialized equipment orders, and telecommunications options (e.g. amplified phones, VCO, CapTel, TTY, iDevice, cellular or landline)
- Provides recipient support services (e.g. installing equipment, training on equipment features, follow up services) for maximum ease of use and access
- Maintains the program database logging service records to comply with billing and programmatic administration and reporting requirements
- Ensures the accuracy of program files and processes in accordance with state contract requirements
- Maintains the TED showroom for public displays
- Networks and collaborates with vendors in a manner that is beneficial to the breadth of available equipment options benefiting program recipients
- Offers information and referral services about resources and CSD services available to individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
To perform the essential functions of this position successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:
- Familiarity with, or ability to learn telecommunication access options, accessible telecommunication equipment (i.e., TTY, amplified phone, CapTel, alerting signalers, cell phone amplifiers, iDevices, phone features for visual or speech impairments)
- Ability to fit each individual with the necessary equipment by ascertaining needs with audiological capabilities and detecting and troubleshooting equipment as needed
- Favorable consumer-relations skills and personality patterns for representing CSD well within the deaf/hard of hearing community, elderly population, service providers, and vendors
- Possess strong organizational and communication skills sufficient to exchange accurate information in frequent communications
- Demonstrate communication flexibility, respect and sensitivity to the various communication and amplification (e.g. cochlear implant) profiles among recipients
- Highest regard for confidentiality
- Familiarity with local, state, and national resources for the deaf, deaf-blind, and hard of hearing population
- Computer knowledge for database work and MS Office operations
- Ability to enter and work in consumer homes, including ascending/descending stairs and navigating around furniture (e.g., positions self under/around furniture or moving about)
QUALIFICATIONS
- Three years job experience involving consumer relations and database maintenance (e.g. narrative logs) (PREFERRED)
- All offers of employment for the TED program are contingent upon clear results of a thorough background check and drug screen
- Valid Drivers’ License with a clean driving record required: Will be driving throughout the region using rental cars for visits outside the branch office city
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position is largely self-directed and requires understanding and compliance with company policies, procedures, and values. The position works in a standard office environment utilizing a computer and standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to interact collaboratively with the team and stakeholders and communicate via phone or videophone. On rare occasions, this position may be asked to perform weekend or evening work. Accommodations available upon request.
