JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Sales and Service Associate
Summary:
Position reports to a Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager or Branch Manager and is expected to assist with every store team function. The focus is effective customer service. The result will be reaching sales growth objectives. The customer experience will be facilitated so Johnstone Supply of SLC/Orem/Ogden is readily selected as the wholesale “supplier of choice.” Accountability includes cooperative interactions with other store personnel, outside sales, accounting, recordkeeping and vendors.
This is a Non-Exempt Position.
Responsibilities:
- Learn the counter sales procedure document duties, know other policies and demonstrate the ability to perform all functions.
- Greet store customers promptly with a smile – warmth and enthusiasm.
- Answer incoming telephone calls in the same manner.
- Understand all computer system functions.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the Johnstone Supply catalog.
- Must be able to locate parts and equipment by understanding the warehouse organization and layout.
- First priority is swift and accurate product delivery to customers.
- Participate in all training by peers and from vendors and complete assignments.
- Prepare to back up any function(s) assigned.
- Establish then achieve Annual Performance Review Objectives.
- Meet Standards of Performance annually.
- Create an Individual Development Plan and demonstrate new skills.
- Offer to resolve customer problems and complaints.
- Maintain housekeeping of assigned areas in showroom and parking lot; assure full and orderly shelves.
- Follow all safety rules & regulations.
- Learn to operate forklifts and other equipment.
- Understand all customer and dealer special programs (i.e. Coleman).
- Participate in all service rotations, store opening/closing rotations, after hours, etc.
- All other duties as assigned/changed by management.

Minimum Requirements
Skills:
- Ability to work independently.
- Follow-up and accuracy are essential in this function.
- Effective communications skills – oral, written & telephone.
- Human relations skills, including listening, tact, diplomacy, patience & teamwork.
- Ability to learn, follow and teach established routines and procedures.
Education:
- Computer skills on systems, PC and with common telecommunication equipment.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- HVAC/R experience required and technical training desirable.
- Customer Service training a plus.
Job Functions:
- Professional image in customer interaction required.
- Distribution/supply warehouse environment.
- Prolonged periods of standing on concrete floors (some stairs).
- Frequent heavy lifting up to 50 and occasionally to 100 pounds.
These requirements may change and/or be modified at any time at the discretion of management. Priorities can change and are flexible. Experience and alternative course work may meet some qualifications.
